Greetings!

We are pleased to announce the publication of the first issue of our print newsletter, Global Health, which is now available as a PDF on our website.  This print newsletter will help us spread the word about Duke's global health efforts. If you would like to receive a hard copy of the newsletter, please email marsha.green@duke.edu.

We hope you have time to take advantage of some of opportunities in global health that are taking place in the next two weeks. This newsletter highlights several, from the talks on Dengue by Katie Koelle and Alun Lloyd October 29, to the visit and lecture by Ellen Piwoz, of the Gates Foundation on November 3 (both part of the University Seminar on Global Health series), to the lunchtime talk by Karen Grepin, a PhD candidate in Health Policy at Harvard, speaking on the question "Too much of a good thing? The effect of Health Development Assistance on African Health Systems" On Nov. 4.

In early November, DGHI is also co-sponsoring the Bioengineering Applications to Address Global Health conference on November 6-7, and the Global Blindness: Integrated Approaches to a Cure symposium on November 13. We expect these to be exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary explorations in global health.

In addition to these opportunities, we also list below upcoming deadlines for funding opportunities and education programs.

As always, if you have information you would like included in the newsletter, please email marsha.green@duke.edu.
