Greetings!
We are delighted to feature in
this newsletter two feature articles: one about the excitement of two young Hart
Fellows about to leave the safety of Duke for 10 months abroad working to
improve women's health; and another about how Duke students who are already
abroad for summer fieldwork experiences are coping with different cultures while
completing their research projects.
We also highlight the work of
several faculty members: Gillian Sander's recently published research on the
importance of HIV Testing for older patients; a link to an article in the Herald
Sun Newspaper about Sam Katz's lifetime legacy award from the nonprofit advocacy
group Action for Children North Carolina for his tireless efforts on behalf of
children, locally and globally; and a link to a podcast about Muslim Americans
by Jen'nan Read, who will be joining the Duke Global Health Institute and the
Department of Sociology in August.
We hope stories such as these are
inspiring reminders of the passion for global health and global issues that Duke
is nurturing. If you have other stories or items you would like to see listed in
the newsletter, please email them to marsha.green@duke.edu.
