Greetings!

Summer global health fieldwork opportunities for Duke students are in full swing. The first article below gives you a brief overview of the learning (both academic and personal) that students are gaining during their time away from campus. If the article intrigues you, check our our new Fieldwork Blog page on the website, where we have links to more than 10 blogs of student reflections.

As part of our move to make the website more interactive, we have also added the ability for readers to comment on stories. Let us know what you think of this week's articles.

Last, but not least, we have revised our website slightly to make it easier to find information about funding for research opportunities and for education and training opportunities. We will continue to highlight these opportunities in the newsletter, but we also invite you to check out the new FUNDING section on the website (you can always find it by clicking on the FUNDING button on the lefthand navigation of the front page.)

If you have other ideas for the website, or news you would like to see included in this newsletter, please send an email to marsha.green@duke.edu.

ONLINE RESOURCE

Global Health Action
http://journals.sfu.ca/coaction/index.php/gha/index

Global Health Action presents global health-minded individuals with free access to journal articles on "hands-on approaches" to global health challenges.  A relatively new journal publication, it aims to publish papers based on pragmatic suggestions on current policies derived from empirical knowledge, as well as papers seeking to create new policies to address issues which are currently overlooked.  It particularly highlights articles from low to middle income countries to understand policy approaches from a different perspective.
