UPCOMING EVENTS
Greetings!

If you were unable to attend the Chancellor's Lecture by Tachi Yamada, president of the Global Health Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we invite you to follow the link below to read a brief recap of some of what he shared with faculty and students.
In addition this week, we bring you news of some of the people at Duke who will be presenting at international conferences, news of what some of our learners have been doing in the field, and reminders of opportunities and events that may be of interest, such as Nathan Thielman's May 2 internal Medicine Grand Rounds HIV/AIDS, titled "An Uneuqal Epidemic in an Unequal World."
As always, if you know of events, opportunities or stories that pertain to global health efforts at Duke or in our region, please email them to marsha.green@duke.edu.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

The Institute for International Medicine is hosting the "INMED Exploring Medical Missions Conference from May 30-31 at the University of Missouri for those interested in working internationally.

ONLINE RESOURCE

Each week, we highlight a website of interest to those involved in global health.

This week's online resource is a compilation of viable market opportunities within global health.  BioVenture economically analyzes what areas of global health could be worked on and how this would benefit those that work on them. The point of the website is well summarized in a quote from Bill Gates, "Sometimes people ask me what field I'd be in if not computers. I think I'd be working in biotechnology. I expect to see breathtaking advances in medicine over the next two decades, and biotechnology researchers and companies will be at the center of that progress."

This website should appeal to the business minded as well as the medically involved.
