DASN Trains 528 Afterschool Staff in One Day!

On January 30th, Dallas AfterSchool Network hosted its first Play to Learn Expo - a half day of training for afterschool staff to ensure they have the background, techniques and confidence to better deliver quality programming to children enrolled in their afterschool programs. By leveraging
the resources in our community, we were able to offer 25 different workshops in

WFAA Embraces AfterSchool

 WFAA Channel 8 has partnered with Dallas AfterSchool Network
to produce the twice-weekly After the Bell segment that showcases what happens
in our community during out-of-school hours.
After the Bell airs every Monday and Wednesday at 6:20AM. You can view
the whole series to date on our DASN website. We are
eternally grateful to WFAA for helping Dallas AfterSchool Network tell the
afterschool story to their viewership.
The segments have already introduced Dallas AfterSchool Network to other
afterschool providers, and have brought our member agencies both volunteers and
donations. Thank you, WFAA!

 The best way to understand the impact of Dallas AfterSchool
Network on the local afterschool field is to participate in one of our member
events. We host monthly member meetings
on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 9:30 - 11:00. Feel free to join us at an upcoming meeting
to see for yourself the magic that is created by bringing providers together,

| DASN Launches New Website! |

 Thank you board member, Peter Petrik, for your guidance and hundreds of
hours of work in providing Dallas AfterSchool Network with a new
website. DASN now boasts an interactive site, www.dasn.org, that does more than capture the
attention of providers, members, parents, and community organizations -
it connects them.
Now, participants in our training workshops can extend the
learning experience well beyond the classroom.

Save the Date! Afterschool Achievers Ceremony

Dallas AfterSchool Network will be hosting the inaugural
"Afterschool Achievers" recognition ceremony on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the
Lakewood Theater from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
The program will recognize two outstanding students from each of our
member agencies. It is sure to be a
special evening for the children, their families and all of the providers
involved in the event. It's another
example of the power of collaboration within the Network. Please mark your calendars and plan to
celebrate with us.
