Greetings!
March is the month of Gratitude. So, with that in mind - what are you grateful for?
When we start to look at what we are grateful for, even the simple things like flowers, sunshine, rain, hugs, cars, family and a comfortable bed, physiologically our brain begins to secrete chemicals of well-being. Remember - our mind and bodies are connected!
I was watching a YouTube video the other day where a comedian was talking about the human tendency to take things for granted. A great example was the move from our 'old' rotary phones to now the ability to say a name to our phone and it dials! I can't even imagine having to ring my mobile number on a rotary phone - I have two 0's in my number! How long would that take! In today's world, technology has sped things up so rapidly - which is great for the most part. However, sometimes I think the speed in which things happen creates a desire for some people for everything to move too quickly.
I wonder what would happen if we all just slowed down a little bit. This month - take a few minutes out of each day to share your gratitude for what is in your life.
What are you grateful for?

Victorian Bushfire Appeal
Thank you so much to all participants at the Melbourne and Sydney Member Forums. All donations and profits from our events in February were donated to the Redcross Victorian Bushfire Appeal. Although our Sydney forum participant numbers were low, as a team we were able to raise $445 which has been donated by the Australian Board of NLP.
We know that family members of at least one ABNLP member were affected by the bushfires. Gabrielle Aitken, our thoughts and wishes go out to you and your family. We hope that everyone is safe, secure and moving the past into a place of history. Luckily, as we know, our minds have a wonderful ability to automatically recode (submodalities) events in to past events. Let us all hope to never repeat this part of history in our lifetimes.

2009 ABNLP Survey Results
Congratulations Adele Lech - you are the lucky winner of our prize draw for competing the ABNLP Survey. You have won either a $50 certificate for Adyar Bookstore or Waggamamma.
In an effort to better understand what our members want from the board, we have an annual Members survey. Thank you to the 60 members who completed the survey last month, your input is greatly appreciated and welcomed with open arms. After all, this is all of our ABNLP!
Here are a few things we learned from you this year:
- 92% of respondants use NLP for their own Personal Development
- Most respondants told us their intention of being a member is for continuing NLP education and to belong to an NLP Community
- We asked what additional benefits you would like to see and we learned that the top 4 desires have to do with the website: online webinars, podcasts, discussion forum and a listing of Australia-wide NLP events.
- 75% of respondants know about our Discount Program (see above)
- 80% read the NLP Observer
- 40% of members have attended more than one ABNLP Event this year
- We found out that there are people intested to lead peer groups/practice groups, organise local workshops and become more involved in the organisation
- Finally, we learned that there is an interest for a Mentor Program, Practice Sessions, Quarterly workshops held on a weekend and a newsletter (hint.. this is the newsletter).
How we will use this information. We have a new website being designed which we will be able to eventually develop an online Forum and have downloads avaliable (once we've found someone to help with recording events). The website will also have a place for NLP articles to be submitted and read. We will look into a few weekend events throughout the year which will allow members a better ability to expand their NLP skills. We are also starting to talk to people interested in helping us expand into more Australian states and regional areas. Most likely, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide will be the first new groups to form.
Additioanlly, we are constantly looking for new partners to add to the Discounts Program and are always seeking new ways to share more NLP with you.
If you do run a practice group or peer group, or would like to start one, we will create a place on the website to promote such groups. Simply send us the details (dates, time, venue, costs) and we will put a link on the website.
The ABNLP is an evolving and growing organisation and we always welcome your input, contribution and support.
Thank you again to everyone who took the time to complete this years survey. |
