AZCOPS Probation Members Survey
According to Arizona state law, it is your right as a probation officer to be armed on duty unless there is a specific reason or cause not to arm you. Departments should not be harassing employees, or implementing complicated policies to delay the arming process or creating hindrances to being armed once approved.

Currently, there are issues in several counties involving denial or undue difficulty in arming probation officers. AZCOPS is attempting to address these issues with AOC, which has requested our input regarding code compliance with individual probation departments.

Please take a few minutes to respond to the survey by clicking the link below. All responses must be received by Jan. 9. AZCOPS Board of Directors will meet the following day to review your input and prepare a collective response for AOC.

AOC has recently sent another request to the counties as to their firearms application numbers. We want to make sure these are realistic. For example, we know that Maricopa Juvenile has only 13 armed officers. There have been past problems with Pima Juvenile, Coconino Juvenile and Yavapai Juvenile.

We thank you for participating in this survey as we attempt to resolve these issues with AOC. Your input is valuable to us.

Sincerely,

Don Stokes
