attitudemotivationarticleAttitude and Motivation
Over the years I have had numerous clients enquire "What have you got to motivate my staff?" This question gets me thinking "How does one person motivate another?", "Why isn't the person motivated already?", "What is causing this situation?".
Can one person motivate another? Not really - they have to motivate themselves. You can however set up an environment where they motivate themselves. That's where Training and Leadership Skills come in.
The underlying foundation is Attitude - How is this created. One of the first things I learnt when I started in the training industry (many, many years ago) is that "behaviour breeds behaviour" and "behaviour is a result of a person's attitude". So negativity breeds more negativity, but on the flip side positivity breeds positivity. When a positive environment is created it will positively affect an employee's attitude, thus lead to a motivating behaviour.
So in answer to the question - "What have you got to motivate my staff?" Everything we have will aid in providing an positive environment - skills are improved and cultures are created.

Attitude and Motivation - Managers

performancemattersPerformance Matters: The Importance of Praise
Featuring John Cleese, this programme is designed to ensure that managers understand how to use praise to make their staff realise that their efforts are appreciated.
At the top of the list of why people think of leaving their jobs is the fact that they feel they aren't appreciated enough. This programme makes the point that giving praise where it's due is a management tool that's powerful, cheap and easy to use. It can bring amazing results in terms of increasing the quality and quantity of the output of the people who work for them, providing it is correctly applied.Video Arts Logo

okbossIt's OK to be the Boss    NEW!
This highly entertaining programme claims that the days of "hands-off" management need to end as it is now turned into an under-management epidemic!
The programme is a call to action for managers, supervisors and leaders in any organisation to rectify the situation. The pressure for individuals in authoritative positions is ever increasing with heightened expectations and productivity measures. To achieve such measures it is absolutely essential to spell out expectations, provide specific guidelines, correct failure quickly and reward success to employees, as this programme will outline.
