Training that fully integrates with the AS/NZS 4360 Risk Management Standard.
This Programme shows managers the steps to manage the risks in their environment, and how cracks may occur in the risk process which could threaten the organisation's ability to achieve its objectives, and in some cases its survival.
Real events and actual footage create this absorbing study of risk management.
Through a range of actual industry examples where the management of risk has affected the business, the video demonstrates the 7 specific steps essential to the risk management process.
The industry events and actual footage include:
- Enquiry launched into patient deaths
- Shoppers injured in sales stampede
- Lives lost in refinery explosion
- Demolition goes badly wrong
- Concorde grounded after disaster
- Tragedy strikes navy's biggest ship
Interviews with Kevin W Knight (Chairman ISO Working Group on Risk Management Standards) and Kimberley Turner (CEO Global Risk Alliance) weave these stories together and help communicate concepts central to the management of risk.
Contents:
- Video (VHS or DVD) duration 25 minutes
- CD containing Study Guide (MS Word) and Slide Presentation (MS PowerPoint)

Preventing Disaster: Learning from Longford
|
|
Professor Andrew Hopkins' ground breaking book Lessons from Longford: The Esso Plant Explosion forms the basis of this workshop. The programme presents an analysis of the Longford gas explosion that resulted in the death of two workers and crippled Melbourne's gas supply for two weeks. The eleven key contributory elements in the safety chain are examined, and flagged in a generic way so that participants can apply the same approach to their own organisations.
This highly interactive training program is suitable for management at all levels. It's intended to allow participants to develop a detailed action plan of how to apply the "Lessons Learned" to their own organisation. The program is intended to alert and instruct management regarding any weaknesses in their organisation's Occupational Health & Safety System.
At the conclusion of the workshop attendees will be able to:
-
describe the 11 lessons from Longford
-
apply the 11 lessons to their organisation
-
identify improvement areas for their own organisation
-
develop an action plan
