Greetings!
Our experiences with companies will either make us want to continue to do business with them or not. It's that simple. Recently, I received a coupon for a free dinner at a local restaurant. I decided to try it since it sounded like an interesting place that I had not been to -- amazing, since I thought I'd been to every restaurant in town! So I called the restaurant and was put on hold for several minutes and then got disconnected. Then I went to their website to try to make a reservation and there was no way to do so. Next, I tried opentable.com (a great website!) and they weren't listed there. Naturally, I gave up and made a reservation at another restaurant. The following week, I received a direct mailer from that same restaurant. I decided to try once more. (I'm determined!!) But the coupon in the direct mailer had already expired!!!! Can you imagine? This may be an extreme example of a failed marketing strategy, but it's not unique. You could have similar stories to tell. If you are going to spend money to promote your company, you'd better make sure you're marketing it in a way that enables people to get what you've got to offer. Whoever "planned" that restaurant's marketing strategy missed the boat by a long shot. Don't let this happen to you. Make sure you have a strategy and that you have planned every detail so that when the phone rings you are ready to do business. We can help. Call anytime (and if you email me, I may tell you the name of the restaurant).
Warmest regards, Jill

How to reach those customers waiting to hear from you
More and more companies are feeling the pinch right now. Between record-high gas prices and the increased costs of running a business, it's no wonder. But you'll be making a big mistake if you decide you can't afford to continue reaching out to your potential customers. This is as important as the rest of your "overhead" -- health plan, telephones, computers, etc. Without customers, you have no business. Word of mouth alone won't cut it. There are cost-effective ways to reach your potential customers that don't have to cost an arm and a leg. One is e-marketing. You are reading an e-marketing newsletter now. Why not create one for your company? It is a cost effective way to keep your name in front of your current and potential customers, and it avoids the expense of printing and mailing brochures. Since it now takes, on average, 10-12 "contacts" for people to remember you (it used to take 7-10), you need to be in front of your potential and current customers on a regular basis. Call us to discuss how we can help you reach your targets in cost-effective ways. We have over 25 years' experience and would be happy to work with you!

What are the most important marketing tools?
This is an interesting question that I often get asked. First and foremost, you need a website. Whether you actually sell your products or services from the site will determine the type of site you need. For most of our clients in the services industry, having a website is important because it confirms that you are a "real" business. Most people will not hire your company because you have a website, but they will definitely look at your website to get a greater understanding of your business once they have heard of you. Whether they are potential clients or employees, it is important that you have a professional website that is easy to navigate and explains what your company does. Consider creating a contact page for the visitor to sign. This way, you can gather email addresses for potential marketing and contact those people who have an interest in learning more about your company. Most of the templates you can buy online will suffice for VERY SIMPLE needs but won't allow you to customize the website enough for your marketing needs. You'll need an original and customizable website in order to accomplish such "real" marketing needs as publishing press releases, downloading Powerpoints or PDFs, obtaining detailed contact information, providing electronic shopping carts, etc.
We also recommend that you have a company brochure that can be printed in small quantities and sent as a PDF in email. This is important for one-on-one meetings, seminar leave-behinds, and mailings. There are, of course, many other important marketing tools that could be right for you. Call us and we'll be glad to sit down and discuss the options.
