Success Stories

Well, I did it!  After reading some books regarding mercury fillings in teeth, and speaking to some people on this topic, I wound up at the door of Dr. Behm and had five mercury filled molars and a bridge which contined a metal base removed.

I feel this decision has improved my walking, fatigue and my energy.  It has been only 10 days!

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1997 and was gradually getting worse, I am now getting better.  Thank you Dr. Behm and your kind staff.
Best regards,
MA

The service I received from Dr. Behm and his staff is excellent.  They helped me in making a good decision and gave me very good service.

I'll definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs dental service.

Thank you for your help.  David A

What About Root Canals?

Why are these some of the most dreaded words in our language?  Aside from the pain associated with either the toothache or from the dental procedure, there is another, possibly more subliminal reason to dread these words.

The data below is controversial, most mainstream dentists would say it is not true.  But there is current and ever increasing scientific evidence that validates the studies done by Dr. Weston Price in the 1920s and '30s.

People are living longer now, and are demanding a high level of health and a quality lifestyle as long as possible.  As a result, this data from Dr. Price is as relevant now as it was years ago.

Each tooth is an individual living organ.  A tooth is in fact extremely porous underneath the hard shell of enamel.  There are 3 to 5 miles of microscopic tubules in each tooth (picture how porous a slice of bread is).

tubule

This is a cross section of a split tooth, see how porous it is.

When the tooth is alive, the center of the tooth and the tubules contain blood, lymph and nerve tissue.

A root canal "cures" a toothache by removing nerve and other living tissue from the center of the tooth, and replacing it with a type of rubber that has barium in it.  This is in fact killing and embalming an organ.

The root canalled tooth, now a dead organ, no longer has any blood, lymph or nerve supply.  The normal aerobic bacteria that lived there now mutate to a form that can live without oxygen (anaerobic).  These anaerobic bacteria are in an ideal oxygen-free environment to flourish and prosper.  As there is no blood supply, antibiotics cannot get in there to kill them.  They have plenty of dead tissue to eat, are walled-off and safe from any threats.

The problem with this whole scenario is that the waste products of these anaerobic bacteria are neurotoxins (toxic to the nervous system).  These seep out of the tooth 24/7, get into circulation in the body and slowly poison the nervous system.

A person whose immune system is strong can deal with these neurotoxins leaking into the body.  But as we get older, have other health issues, and a somewhat compromised immune system, the toxicity from a dead tooth can be the final straw that pushes the person over to chronic ill health.

Dentists are taught in dental school to go to extreme measures to "save a tooth."  Our philosophy is that we would rather save the patient than the tooth.

All the above has been extensively researched by Dr. Weston Price (of Price-Pottenger fame), and published by Dr. George Meinig in the book Root Canal Cover-up.

Please don't think we are saying that every root canalled tooth is bad.  We are just giving information so people can do their own research, come to their own conclusions, and do what they think is best for their own body.

Whole Body Dentistry Root Canal Cover-up
by George Meinig, DDS

In this book Dr. Meinig does a great job summarizing the very thorough research of Dr. Weston Price in a methodical and scientific manner, and adds relevant comments from his perspective on risks of root canal treatments.

It is really good to see this information published and available for the general public by one of the founders of Endodontist Association of America. This is a must read for anyone considering root canal and for those of us with root canal treatment, and raises important social questions - given that tens of millions of root canals are performed in the country every year.

Many of thse will need to be re-treated and will fail after certain number of yearsn after causing bacterial infections, bone loss, potentially other degenerative diseases and weakening the immune system of the individuals.

To my knowledge, the modern dental profession has not fully addressed this research - merely dismissed Dr. Price's research as not properly controlled and the bacteria injected during experiments being too massive.

While Dr. Meinig does not advocate removal of all the root canal treated teeth, he clearly provides lot of information that would not just raise concern and questions from all involved but also lead to removal of some of root canal teeth and reduction/change to the procedure going forward.

What are the options to address huge numbers of root canals - both preventive and after the fact, when infection is present and teeth are extracted? This is not just individual, but a social dilemma, and it puts burden on dental and medical profession to be addressed adequately in the near future.
