Success Stories

We received this unsolicited Success Story from a patient who moved to Washington State many years ago:

Dear Dr. Behm,

I am writing to thank you for the excellent results I have had with a crown you placed on my #20 tooth way back in July 1999.  I recall you used Sculpture FibreKore composite material for the crown and I have never had any problem with it.

My dentist here in Washington said on my last exam that my #20 tooth and crown are both in excellent condition with no need of any work whatsoever.  Your natural dentistry and skills certainly have been of real benefit to me.  Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Bill L

Dear Staff,

I broke #7 (a front tooth) off at the gum line.  Dr Behm took me in on an emergency basis, and extracted the remaining part of the tooth.

After healing was complete, he fitted me with a nesbitt (single removable tooth).  I am very pleased with it, can eat corn on the cob and apples with no problem!

It works great for me.

The Fluoride Deception
by Christopher BrysonFluoride Deception

The Fluoride Deception unearths the mystery of how a grim workplace poison and the most damaging environ-mental pollutant of the cold war was added to our drinking water and toothpaste.

A chronicle of the abuse of power and of the manufacture of state-sponsored medical propaganda, The Fluoride Deception reveals how a secretive group of powerful industries, all of which faced extensive litigation for fluoride pollution, collaborated with officials from the National Institute of Dental Research to launder fluoride's public image.

This fascinating book, which reads like a novel, is a real eye-opener.    $24.95

Blaylock Tip of the Week

Protect Yourself from Five Brain Poisons

All too often, our brains are poisoned by the very thing meant to nourish them - the foods we eat.

When toxins, including pesticides and excitotoxins* such as MSG found in foods, come in contact with brain cells that are already weakened, either by disease or by free-radical damage, they have a profound effect on brain health.

* excitotoxins excite, then poison, cells or tissues; substances that bind to a nerve cell receptor, stimulates the cell, and damages it or causes its death.  An example is nerve injury produced by NutraSweet and glutamates (MSG).

Brain cells weakened, either by disease or by free-radical damage, become much more vulnerable to injury by toxins of various types.

Below are five of the most damaging brain toxins, and how to avoid them.

Fluoride
Fluoride is a powerful brain toxin, especially when combined with aluminum. You should avoid fluoridated water, fluoride toothpaste, and fluoride mouthwashes.

Excitotoxins
Avoid excitotoxins such as MSG, aspartame, hydrolyzed proteins, and soy proteins in food.

Pesticides
Avoid pesticides and herbicides, especially within the home. They are linked to increased risk of Alzheimer's dementia and especially Parkinson's disease. In sensitive individuals, even minute concentrations can result in advanced and very rapid onset Parkinson's disease.

Aluminum
Avoid all aluminum-containing foods (processed cheeses, teas with lemon, pancakes, biscuits, and all foods using baking powder), cookware, medications, vaccinations, and topical ointments. Do not eat foods high in aluminum when eating or drinking citrus-containing foods and drinks (orange juice, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, etc).

Mercury in Fillings
Do not let your dentist fill your teeth with mercury-containing amalgam (looks like metal) or in any way manipulate your fillings (tooth cleaning, etc).

If you have amalgam fillings, have them removed by a dentist trained in proper removal procedure. The International Association of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) trains physicians in this procedure and can give you the name of a trained dentist near you.

It's interesting that two of the five brain toxins listed above are associated with dental offices.  This is why it's key to educate yourself, your friends and family to ensure you choose a dental office that will not contribute to this toxic overload.

The article below, Wall Street Turns Thumbs Down to Mercury Fillings, is by our brave anti-amalgam leader in DC, Charlie Brown at Consumers for Dental Choice  http://www.toxicteeth.org .  He refers to a report for Wall Street investors about both the legal and financial risks associated with investing in companies that manufacture dental amalgam for dentists.  This report, by Bank of America Securities, contains the following paragraph:

"Surprisingly, consumers are not aware amalgam fillings contain mercury.  An early 2006 Zogby poll of more than 1,200 Americans indicated more than 50% do not know the primary metal in amalgam (which is over 50% mercury). Further, over 90% thought dentists should be required to inform patients of the various types of filling material alternatives, which is not current practice.

"Whether or not increasing FDA regulation of the product actually occurs, rising consumer awareness of the ingredients of dental amalgam may accelerate a mix shift away from the product, particularly amidst the widening availability of alternative restoration options."

Wall Street turns thumbs down to mercury fillings by Charlie Brown, Consumers for Dental Choice

A stunning report by Bank of America Securities advises that dental products company Dentsply, the #2 manufacturer of mercury fillings, realign its operations to sell only the resin (white) and other filling materials.

The report came after the latest ADA meeting in San Francisco, where the buzz throughout the meeting was whether mercury fillings would be banned or phased out. This report is unlikely to be the last, as other securities analysts realize that companies who manufacture mercury fillings are selling to a dwindling market and are putting their entire asset picture at legal risk.

The report confirms that the sole remaining supporters of mercury fillings are (a) the dwindling remnant of pro-mercury dentists, (b) their trade group the ADA, and (c) FDA's out-of-touch Center for Devices.

Please become familiar with and support this organization, Consumers for Dental Choice.  They are working very hard to eliminate mercury fillings being placed by dentists in the USA, so future generations won't have some of the health challenges that we have had to deal with.
