Planetarium Vortex
Aloha e 'Imiloa Members!

This October, 'Imiloa will host a planetarium film extravaganza and we hope you can join us.  The 'Imiloa Fulldome Film Festival will be an international smorgasbord of over 50 cutting edge fulldome films in the planetarium world today over a five-day period October 5 - 10.

What better place to host a planetarium film festival than the world's first 3D stereoscopic planetarium here in Hilo, right?  Of course, as a member you are the first to hear about the event before the general public announcement - another great benefit to being part of our member 'ohana!

PLEASE NOTE that our regularly-scheduled daily shows will not be shown the week of this festival and that our show schedule will change.

Member Information for 'Imiloa Fulldome Film Festival:

WalkinAsAvailableWalk-in/As-available seats
Members can view up to any 3 shows per day for FREE!  Regular member guest benefits apply.
Seating is contingent and dependent on availability.   As-available seats can be secured by showing up the day of the show, going to the front desk, showing your membership card, and securing however many tickets your membership allows you for whichever shows you would like to see.  We suggest picking up tickets from the front desk as soon as we open and coming back to see the show.   You can secure tickets for up to three shows for free but please remember that they are on an as-available basis.  This means that if you show up 5 minutes before the show, there's a chance you won't be able to get tickets unless you've planned in advance.

GuaranteedAllAccessGuaranteed Seating/All-Access Pass

Is there a show you just can't miss?   Want to see most or all of the shows or come and go as you please and have a confirmed seat every show, every day?  A guaranteed seat can be secured by purchasing an All-Access Pass to all shows for a $90 member rate.  This is good only for one person and member benefits do not apply.

All-access passholders will also receive an invitation to a VIP reception for film festival participants and Hawai'i Island film producers.  This evening reception, hosted by 'Imiloa and the Hawai'i Film Commission, will feature a panel discussion, a reception with heavy pupu and a no-host bar, and trailers, clips and special demonstrations in the 'Imiloa Planetarium.  Don't miss out!

Book your All-Access Pass today by visiting or calling our front desk at 969-9703.

FAQsFAQs

Q:  As a member am I guaranteed a seat in these shows?
A:  No.  The only way to guarantee a seat is to purchase an All-Access Pass.  An all-access pass will guarantee you a seat in every show.  The pass is only good for one seat and member guest benefits DO NOT apply.

Q : I have a Patron membership.  How many guests may I bring to a show?
A:  You can bring as many guests as your membership allows, however, the seats are on an "as-available" basis.  As a Patron member, you and your second cardholder may bring 2 guests and up to 5 keiki under 18 years old.  A Silver member may bring up to 4 guests along with his or her second cardholder and up to 5 keiki.  A person with Individual membership receives members-only benefits for himself/herself only.

Q:  What if I want to bring more guests than my level of membership allows - can I purchase additional seats?
A:  Yes!  As long as there are seats available, you may purchase additional seat passes.  Adults are $5 and keiki are $3.

Q:  What does "As-available seat" mean?
A:  As-available seats can be secured by showing up the day of the show, going to the front desk, showing your membership card, and securing however many tickets your membership allows you for whichever shows you would like to see.  Member benefits DO apply to this option as described in the question above.  You can secure tickets for up to three shows for free but, again, this is only on an as-available basis.

Q:  How early can I come to pick up or reserve my tickets?
A:   The 'Imiloa Front Desk opens at 9 am daily and we are closed on Mondays.  You must come on the day of the show you want to see.

Q:  Can I call in to reserve my tickets?
A:  Sorry, no.

Q:  How do I purchase an All-Access Pass?
A:  Call or visit our front desk at 969-9703.

Q:  Can I share my All-Access Pass with my wife/husband/sister/brother/etc...?  Is it transferable?
A:  Yes, but the pass is only good for one seat in the planetarium per show.

Q:  Besides a guaranteed seat in every show, what else does the All-Access Pass get me?
A:  All-access passholders will also receive an invitation to a VIP reception for film festival participants and Hawai'i Island film producers.  This evening reception, hosted by 'Imiloa and the Hawai'i Film Commission, will feature a panel discussion, a reception with heavy pupu and a no-host bar, and trailers, clips and special demonstrations in the 'Imiloa Planetarium.  Don't miss out!  Please note that this is only for the All Access passholder.

Q:  I have out-of-town guests visiting - can I bring them to see the 11 am Maunakea: Between Earth and Sky show during this week?
A:  No.  PLEASE NOTE that our regularly-scheduled daily shows (like Maunakea: Between Earth and Sky,  Awesome Light II, keiki shows and others) will not be offered during their normal times for this week only.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you or your guests and we hope that you will take advantage of this unique opportunity to experience the best in digital video planetarium productions. Please be sure to share the news with your friends!

Q:  Will the Exhibit Halls/Store/Sky Garden Restaurant be open during that week?
A:  Yes.

Q:  I have more questions/comments/feedback - who can I call?
A:    Please contact our front desk at 969-9703.  You can also call the Membership and Fund Development office at 969-9732 or email membership@imiloahawaii.org
