SOL thoughts
"Your Inner Being likes to skip and laugh and think about things; your Inner Being likes to offer compliments and feel appreciation and contemplate somthing that is not fully understood and feel the understanding come forth.  You Inner Being is just like your frisky two-year old who is eager for life experiences.  To meet up with your Inner Being just be more like that NOW."                                                             - Abraham, Esther and Jerry Hicks

"When the movement in the direction of becoming something other than what you are isn't there anymore, you are not in conflict with yourself."                                             -U.G. Krishnamurti

"Wisdom tells me I am nothing.
Love tells me I am everything.
And between the two my life flows."

The Five Tibetans: Part 4

The Fourth Tibetan at Gilmans Peak sunrise on Kilmanjaro

What are the Five Tibetan Rites?
They are a series of yoga poses developed over the centuries in the monastaries of Tibet and are credited by thousands for everything from increased energy to better memory, weight loss and just looking and feeling younger.
At SOL Yoga we have had many magical experiences with the Rites and recommend them as an at-home daily practise. In 15 minutes you will feel radiant and fully alive!

To perform the fourth Tibetan Rite, sit in the floor with legs outstretched, feet hip width apart, hands behind hips with the fingers pointing forward.  Tuck your chin in.  Keeping your arms straight and your hands and feet in place, with an inhale bend your knees and raise your trunk to a horizontal position.  Bring your head back if this comfortable for your neck.  Exhale return to the seated position.  Build up to 22 repetitions daily.
This Rite invigorates the thyroid gland, the digestive system and stimulates lymphatic flow while strengthening the arms, shoulders and abdomen.
Greetings!
Thank you for being part of the SOL yoga community and for joining us in our on-going dialogue on the art of living the yoga life.

Yoga is a beautiful path for attaining enlightenment, to be happy and free in the here and now. It contains the essential reminders on how to live deeply, love fully and meet all of our experiences with compassion, grace and unconditional kindness. Have fun and enjoy each precious step of the journey! :-)

YAMAS: AHIMSA
eagleThe Yamas are five guidelines to help us master our relationship with the external world through our thoughts, words and actions.

The first of these is considered a cornerstone of any yoga practise, AHIMSA or non-harming.  This is a committment to being loving and kind towards ourselves and others (which is the same thing anyway!), choosing gentleness and non-violence and compassion.  Ahimsa is a conscious choice to not create new negative Karma in our lives.  By living the principle of treating others as we wish to be treated in the present moment we free ourselves of karma and we create space for light and love in our lives. On a global scale this teaching is captured in a quote from Gandhi..."with an eye for an eye, the world becomes blind." Let us remember the wisdom of loving thy enemies.
May we choose love in everything we do, say and think.
May we play well together in this game of life.
Namaste!
