Dr. McGeeney's CEO Report:
(Medical) Home for the Holidays

Medical Home for the Holidays

The challenge with Healthcare Reform and the HIT Economic Stimulus is that physicians and those involved in the practice of medicine are not experts in PCMH or Health IT.  To meet the goal of meaningful use adoption within a practice, they often reach out to experts and consultants to answer their questions and give them some direction.  What has become quite evident in recent weeks is that all consultants are not created equal and many "flavor of the month" consultants are putting themselves out there as experts in practice transformation, while clearly they are not.

This became quite evident to me recently when a physician on a webinar stated she was told by a consultant not to purchase any Health IT solutions until 2011!  This could not be further from the truth.  PCMH is now.  Healthcare Reform is now. TransforMED | Welch Allyn EHR Prep-Select Webinar

The new government economic stimulus package has provided significant incentives for physician practices to purchase and put to "meaningful use" an electronic health record (EHR) system. You know that moving to an EHR has the potential to be a positive investment for your practice and your patients -- but the high costs, time and complexity of implementing an EHR system can be challenging for your team and your budget.

This archived online seminar demonstrates how the new EHR Prep-Select tool helps practices meet the challenge by walking you through a simple and effective step-by-step process of planning and preparation. Learn about the year-1 meaningful use criteria for physicians at AAFP's "Noteworthy" blog.

Take advantage of this free online seminar to get your EHR transformation on track for 2010.

Delta-Exchange is TransforMED's online, collaborative network where primary care practices can work together on transformation projects; discuss issues, challenges and successes; ask questions; share practical knowledge and experiences - and work together to maintain the momentum for transformation to a patient-centered medical home.

One of the most popular zones on Delta-Exchange is "Ask the Experts" where members meet to ask and answer questions, share documents and discuss what works and what doesn't.
