Brenda Thomas, Training and Performance Consultant, Metropolitan Community Colleges' Business and Learning Solutions will present. 
 
In this Lunch and Learn, participants will: 
  • Look at the different reasons why people do not give recognition, and the impact of that oversight on individual and organizational success.
  • Have an opportunity to deliver recognition to sustain and encourage excellent performance.
  • Be presented with a set of key actions for delivering effective recognition
  • Walk away with a list of ideas that will be suited to their work force, and within their budget restrictions.
Mike Shew, Full Employment Council will also speak about the services and resources offered by the Full Employment Council, Rapid Response coordination and Business Learning Solutions ( formerly Business Technology Center of MCC).

Ribbon Cutting  & Open House

Patty Bott and Carolyn Pittsenbarger of Bott Insurance and Dena McLean and Jackie Hill of SCC Mortgage invite you to join them in celebrating their new shared location at 1500 NW Mock Avenue.  Food, wine, beer and other refreshments will be available, along with drawings for over 15 door prizes.  The open house is from 4:30 to 6:30, with the ribbon cutting at 4:45 p.m.

 Upcoming Events - Mark Your Calendars Now!
Linked In 101 - Wednesday, August 12th, 4 p.m., Side Pockets, 1237 S 7 Highway, Blue Springs, MO 64014.  This seminar will review how to use Linked In as a business tool.  There is no fee for Chamber members to attend.  Cost for non-members is $50.  Participants are encouraged, but not required to bring laptops.  The session will last until 5 p.m. and then a Happy Hour with a cash bar will follow.  Please make a reservation for this event.

National Night Out Against Crime - August 4th, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Downtown Blue Springs.  Enjoy free food, game booths, raffle prizes and live entertainment. 
 
Concert in the Park - August 9, 6:30 pm, this weeks free concert is the Trampled
Under Foot - blues band.
 
Bowling Challenge - August 11th, Lunar Bowl, 6:00 - 10:30 pm.  This is a fundraiser for Blue Springs Economic Development Corporation and Blue Springs Education Foundation. For more information email Cindy Oddo at coddo@wrisinger-king.com
 
Texas Hold'em - August 23rd, Side Pockets, 2:00 pm. Your donation of $30.00 will benefit St. Mary's Medical Center's "Calling to Care" campaign.  St Mary's is a non-profit hospital that serves our community.
 
Don't foget to shop in Blue Springs this weekend! Blue Springs will participate in Missouri's annual sales tax holiday. The holiday begins at 12:01 A.M.
