- The Board reviewed the budget as created in Quick Books for all program activity and expenses.
- A financial report was reviewed and approved.
- Documents that provide a structure for Board members, staff and the general membership when the Chamber is asked to support issues were presented, reviewed and approved.
- New programs of the Chamber including the "Buy Local" Task Force, TGIF Program, Lunch & Learns and a Community Internship program were discussed.
- Updates were provided about existing programs of the Chamber including Leadership Blue Springs and Fall Fun Fest, to name a few.
- An automatic withdrawal program to pay membership dues monthly VS annually was discussed and approved.
- The Chair-Elect discussed the upcoming retreat for the fall of this year.
- A Nominating Committee was formed to present a slate of four candidates for new Board positions.
Your Board is working for you to fulfill the mission of the Chamber. The mission of the Chamber is to promote, develop and facilitate a strong economic environment in which the business community can grow and proposer.
Feel free to contact Board members with concerns. A complete list can be obtained on the website at www.bluespringschamber.com. One is also available in the 2009 Membership Directory and New Resident Guide or by calling the Chamber office at 229-8558.

Tips for a Better Website
Build it for Speed - You have between 10 and 30 seconds to capture your potential customer's attention.
Target Your market - Know who your market is and make certain that your site caters to their needs. If your market is mostly business professionals, the site must be clean and professional. If your product is aimed mostly at teenagers and young adults, then your site could be more informal and relaxed.
Make Payment Easy - Offer a variety of payment methods for your customer. If you don's take credit cards, start immediately. You can either set up a merchant account or use one of the many credit card clearing houses. Take checks on line. Provide an address for those who prefer to pay by cash, check or money order. Make sure the payment process is clear, easy to access and intuitive to use. Do not ask for any more information than is necessary to complete the transaction. Nothing frightens a customer off faster than feeling that their privacy is being invaded. |
Fall Fun Festival
September 18,19 and 20th
This year we have added Dock Dogs as an exciting new event at the festival!
We have also moved the Main Stage to the
Beer Garden and have added a Community Stage for all the dance troops and karate groups. On Sunday, the Beer Garden will be turned into the Christian Rock Arena.
With all of this happening to make our festival more exciting there are still great opportunities for sponsorships and booth space.
Call Reta at the Chamber Office for more information or to volunteer for the event.
