Greetings!

Thank you to everyone that participated in our membership forums!  Your ideas and suggestions for improvements will be a very large part of our strategic planning process.

The search for a new Executive Director has begun, and we are eager to find the right person to lead our organization.  There are many opportunities ahead for our Chamber and for the Blue Springs business community.  It's exciting to know that together we are building a better Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce for all of us.

The Chamber's monthly luncheon will be Thursday, November 20th at 11:45 at the
Adams Pointe Conference Center.  This month's luncheon is sponsored by First National Merchant Solutions

November's luncheon is a New Member Showcase.  Come early to meet and greet our newest chamber members.

Mayor Carson Ross will present his first State of the City address. Make your reservations today by calling 229-8558 or by email to
bschamberinfo@bluespringschamber.com.

GIVE THE GIFT OF GIVING
Charity Giving Cards
Lauri Meyer was looking for a special
gift for each of her daughters for the holidays. She wanted a gift that reflected her interest in giving back to the community.

"No matter how old your children are, I think it's really important to teach them to give back to the community," said Meyer, who is a former Eastland Community Foundation board member.

Then, Meyer discovered Charity Giving Cards. The cards look a lot like a retail card, except rather than going to a mall to redeem them on merchandise, the cards can be redeemed online for a favorite nonprofit organization.

Introduced just last year by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, the cards are a first in the country. Meyer was able to buy the cards online for $25, $50 or $100 and receive a tax deduction. Her daughters could then go to
www.gkccf.org to redeem them on any nonprofit organizations in the country.

"We hope to increase the number of people who can become involved in giving charitably," said Debbie Starke, executive director of the Eastland Community Foundation, which is a regional affiliate of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. "With cards available for as little as $25, we hope to make it easier for people to give to the causes that they care about."

Since the cards were introduced, more than $61,000 has been given back to the community through the giving card program. Several companies are working with the Community Foundation to create a private label with their own logo to clients at the end of the year. To purchase or learn more about Giving Cards, visit
www.gkccf.org or call 816-842-0944.
Boo Springs Harvest Fest
Boo Fest has quickly become a downtown Blue Springs tradition...one that grows a little larger each year.  With tremendous support from the downtown merchants, local families enjoyed a beautiful Saturday of "trick or treating" up and down Main Street.
