Under the Tent 2011  Get ready for a night of dancing, delicious food, fun fellowship, and fabulous auction items at the Second Annual Under the Tent: an evening benefiting Gravatt Camp and Conference Center. This year's tent event will be held at 701 Whaley in Columbia. The venue has changed to accommodate the expected larger crowd, and Heart 'n' Soul will provide the entertainment once again. Many thanks to event co-chairs Christine Koutrakos and Jenny Buck for taking the leadership in planning the event, which last year raised over $23,000 for Gravatt program development, camper scholarships, and building improvements. Event sponsors are being sought, and donations of auction packages are also needed. Contact acquisitions coordinator, Diana Cannon if you have an item to donate for the auction or Christine Koutrakos if you like to be one of the sponsors. Tickets may be purchased by printing a registration form online or calling our office.

We're building
We answer the question weekly... "When are you going to build?" Gravatt is happy to announce that we will be building soon-like this summer soon.
Plans are underway for expansion of Cole Lodge Lounge. Many thanks to Clint Burdett who has volunteered his architectural services for the expansion, which will double the size of the meeting space. The space will include a movable wall so that it can accommodate two medium-sized groups or one large group at a time. Public bathrooms will also be included. Clint's donation of services will provide significant cost savings.
Funding for the building will come from the remainder of the insurance money received when Cullum Hall burned and from an anonymous donor who is challenging you to help. This generous benefactor has pledged $15,000 to the project with the challenge that we receive matching donations from other donors. The mat ching donations will enable us to complete the project and remain debt-free. Additional funds will also be need to furnish the addition.

Living abundantly
Join facilitator May How of Angelfish Creations September 11-13, 2011 in honoring the Creator through fun, experiential exercises that will enhance your ability to connect with God, nature and your own creative spirit. The three day retreat will begin with an introduction to prayerful and mindful living. We'll build from there by teaching you to live more fully through awareness of and gratitude for the simple pleasures in life. During the Abundant Living Retreat, you will experience the healing power of creativity by engaging in activities such as gardening, cooking, art, and other activities of daily living. Limited space available in summer camp 
Camp Gravatt offers boys and girls from first through twelfth grade a Christian-centered, community-based summer camp experience, focused on demonstrating God's unconditional love to every camper. Family camp sessions are also available.
The Camp Gravatt program and activities vary by session, depending upon each age group, and include most of the traditional things associated with camp--archery, arts and crafts, canoeing, nature, time to play and swim in the lake, challenge course events, campfires, songs, skits, as well as time for worshiping and developing camp community.
At this writing we are in the middle of the first junior high session, and have completed two elementary sessions. It's not too late to sign up for one of the upcoming sessions:
Junior High 2 (July 4-14) - room for girls and boys
Elementary 3 (July 16-22) - room for boys only
CIT 2 (July 16-30) - room for boys only
Family Camp 2 (Aug 5-7) - room for all
