Can you help us replace Old Blue Faithful?
If you've been to Camp Gravatt in the past 30 years, you know Roy's big blue tractor. Well, it finally bit the dust for good, and we are in great need of a new or gently used replacement. A good used tractor that will fit our purposes will cost around $8000. Can you help? A little or a lot, all donations are truly appreciated so we can get Roy riding again.

What if
Gravatt earned a donation every time you searched the Internet? Or how about if
a percentage of every purchase you made online went to support our cause? It
can! GoodSearch.com
is a Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue,
about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as
you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch
the donations add up! GoodShop.com
is an online shopping mall which donates up to 30 percent of each purchase to
your favorite cause. Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap,
Best Buy, eBay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and
every time you place an order, you'll be supporting your favorite cause. And if you
download the GoodSearch - Gravatt Camp and Conference Center toolbar, Gravatt
will earn money every time you shop and search online - even if you forget to
go to GoodShop or GoodSearch first! Add the Gravatt Camp and Conference Center toolbar. Please sign
up today, and support Gravatt scholarships, program development, and facility
improvement.

Camp Gravatt's 62nd Summer What a great summer we've had so far! I am writing this on the first full day of the third elementary session. We've already had a great time sharing God's unconditional love with over 300 campers this summer, and we're not even halfway through. This summer is packed with the traditions we know and love - carnival, the talent show, the dance, Shalom, high ropes, the Blob, and more. This year's staff has a number of new counselors, including a couple who are completely new to Gravatt, and because of that it's exciting to introduce some great new ideas. Mixing new and old keeps camp fresh for campers who come back year after year. One of our new favorite activities, which is sure to become a tradition is "Gravatt and Dragons."
One of Gravatt's core programs is Footprints, our faith formation program. In the elementary sessions this summer, campers are talking about God as the foundation for all of your life and His unconditional welcome for us. Read what one camper had to say during Eucharist at the close of session EL2:
God will never let you go no matter what your background, no matter what you do... No matter who or what you do or are, He will let you in. That's kind of like Gravatt too.
It's not too late to sign up for this summer. We hope to see you here!

ROC at Gravatt
Last year Gravatt held
its first ever "Reach Out Camp" (ROC) - a camp for children with one or more
incarcerated parents, and we are writing to ask for your support with our
second ROC this summer.
ROC 2009 was an amazing
experience for campers and staff alike. The children who were served absolutely
basked in the ROC at Gravatt 2009 staff and campers | love of God shown to them by the volunteer staff. There were
heartbreaking moments and moments of utter joy. Every staff member agreed that
it was a project they would work on again, and it was obvious on closing day
that the campers were deeply affected by their positive experience.
While the number of
children we served last year was small (ten elementary and middle school kids),
it was obvious to everyone involved that the impact was great. It is our goal
this year to TRIPLE the number of children we serve.
This summer ROC will
take place August 9-12. Some of the activities planned include swimming,
canoeing, archery, ropes course, faith formation, music, and worship. We will
be working with local law enforcement and social services agencies to find
campers. This is a great opportunity for the children to grow and learn new
things and will be possible only with your support.
Your monetary donation
is greatly appreciated and will assist with programs supplies, food, staffing,
camp t-shirts, and personal items needed by campers. In addition, you might
consider donating any of the following items for camper's personal use:
flashlights and batteries, sleeping bags, white t-shirts for tie-dye, swim
attire, shoes, and personal hygiene items (deodorant, soap, toothbrush, towel,
etc.). |
Join the Friends
In addition to campers, Cursillo is one of the many faith-building communities that benefit from Friends of Gravatt donoations. | The Friends of Gravatt Annual Fund was created to build financial and spiritual support for a community that has for over 60 years ministered to people of all ages by providing a space for Christian formation and hospitality, personal and professional development, recreation and fellowship. Please consider a tax deductible monthly, quarterly, or annual gift to Gravatt to help sustain and grow the ministry that has mean so much to so many. Would
you like to support Gravatt's ministry of Christian formation and
hospitality but can't seem to find your checkbook, an envelope, and a
stamp all on the same day? Now it's easier than ever to become a Friend
of Gravatt by joining the draft! Give us a call and we can set you up
for monthly draft in any amount. Your tax-deductible donation helps
provide camper scholarships, improve facilities, grow programs, and
more. For more information on joining the draft, contact Ellen via email or at 803.648.1817. |
