Open to all ages from infant to senior citizen, Family Camp provides an opportunity for campers to experience a sample of camp life with a parent or trusted adult by their side. Family campers will swim, canoe, do archery, sing, cook out, eat s'mores, hike, and worship. It's going to be a ton of fun, and you are invited! Make it a mother/daughter or father/son weekend - or bring the whole family along - for an overnight adventure.

Register now by clicking here!

Don't forget there's still time to sign up for regular camp sessions too!

BassmasterGravatt_Bass Fishing Tournament

Join us on July 31, 2010 for fun, fellowship, and fishing at the 1st Annual Gravatt BassmastersFishing Tournament. Proceeds from this tournament will benefit camper scholarships and the Gravatt Environmental Education Program.

This catch and release tournament is family friendly so take this opportunity to share to the outdoors with youth you care about. Your two-person  team can choose to fish from the bank, from a Gravatt canoe, or you may bring your own canoe boat (trolling motors only). Awards will given to the overall team winner, individual overall winner, biggest fish, and smallest fish. We have already received confirmation of prizes from great companies like Red Bone Alley, Mountain Khakis, and Coast Apparel.

  ROC at Gravatt

Last year Gravatt held its first ever "Reach Out Camp" (ROC) - a camp for children with one or more incarcerated parents, and we are writing to ask for your support with our second ROC this summer.

ROC 2009 was an amazing experience for campers and staff alike. The children who were served absolutely basked in the
ROC at Gravatt 2009 staff and campers

love of God shown to them by the volunteer staff. There were heartbreaking moments and moments of utter joy. Every staff member agreed that it was a project they would work on again, and it was obvious on closing day that the campers were deeply affected by their positive experience.

While the number of children we served last year was small (ten elementary and middle school kids), it was obvious to everyone involved that the impact was great. It is our goal this year to TRIPLE the number of children we serve.

This summer ROC will take place August 9-12. Some of the activities planned include swimming, canoeing, archery, ropes course, faith formation, music, and worship. We will be working with local law enforcement and social services agencies to find campers. This is a great opportunity for the children to grow and learn new things and will be possible only with your support.

Your monetary donation is greatly appreciated and will assist with programs supplies, food, staffing, camp t-shirts, and personal items needed by campers. In addition, you might consider donating any of the following items for camper's personal use: flashlights and batteries, sleeping bags, white t-shirts for tie-dye, swim attire, shoes, and personal hygiene items (deodorant, soap, toothbrush, towel, etc.).  We can also use volunteers who can work with us during the week.

Our goal is to raise at least $6000 to make this camp possible, and every donation helps.

Now it's easier than ever to become a Friend of Gravatt by joining the draft! Give us a call and we can set you up for monthly draft in any amount. Your tax-deductible donation helps provide camper scholarships, improve facilities, grow programs, and more. For more information on joining the draft, contact Ellen via email or at 803.648.1817.
