Mohonk Mountain Stage Company

Raw, powerful, visceral.
Sweet, tender, quiet.
Rowdy, funny, bawdy.

It's the energy that draws you forward in your seat.
It's the pulse that makes you engage.
It's the spark that makes you think.

The How and The Why by Sarah Treem
Greetings!

It's time again. Time to Save That Date and share MMSC's magic! After taking a summer break, we are starting rehearsals for Sarah Treem's exciting play, The How and The Why.

This intimate production features two brilliant characters, each with her own take on the controversial debate surrounding the theory of evolution. In this funny, gripping new play, a mentor and her protg bond and spar over the personal and professional consequences of their own diametrically opposed theories. Fast and witty, inspiring and provocative, this wry gem from playwright Sarah Treem (of HBO's In Treatment) is both engrossing and powerful.

Save the dates of October 19 & 20 and come to Unison Arts in New Paltz  to see
The How and The Why.

And then, on December 7 & 8, we will be performing After The Revolution, by Amy Herzog (also by Herzog, 4,000 Miles). The young, brilliant Emma Joseph proudly carries the torch of her family's Marxist tradition by devoting her life to the memory of her famously blacklisted grandfather. When history reveals a shocking truth about the man himself, the entire family is forced to confront questions of honesty and an allegiance they thought had been long resolved.

More to come in upcoming MMSC e-newsletters about both The How and The Why and After The Revolution. Stay tuned. And get out your calendars and save those dates.

Do you have suggestions for shows you would like to hear MMSC perform? Let us know! Write to us at [email protected].

 Smart, Engaging, Incisive

Evolution and emotion collide in Sarah Treem's thought-provoking and sharp new play about science, family, and survival of the fittest.

On the eve of a prestigious conference, an up-and-coming evolutionary biologist wrestles for the truth with an established leader in the field. This intimate and keenly perceptive play explores the difficult choices women of every generation face.
