On Nov. 5 & 6, MMSC presents
the continuing story of an American town.

Greetings!

In 2002 MMSC presented the Hudson Valley premiere of the highly acclaimed play  The Laramie Project. On November 5 & 6, we are once again proud to bring the Hudson Valley premiere of The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later to the stage at Unison Arts Center.

The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later, written by the same authors of The Laramie Project, is a compelling and groundbreaLaramie fenceking epilogue to the original piece. The text focuses on the long-term effects of the murder of Matthew Shepard on the town of Laramie. It explores how the town has changed and how the murder continues to reverberate in the community. The play also includes new interviews with Matthew's mother Judy Shepard and Mathew's murderers  Russell Henderson and Aaron McKinney, both serving two consecutive life sentences. The writers also conducted many follow-up interviews Laramie residents from the original piece, including, Romaine Patterson, Reggie Fluty, Jedediah Shultz, Father Roger Schmidt, Jonas Slonaker, Beth Loffreda and others.

"The Tectonic Theater Project set out to find out how Laramie had changed in the ten years since the murder. When we arrived, we were forced to confront the question, 'How do you measure change in a community?'  said Moises Kaufman, Artistic Director of Tectonic Theater Project. "We found the people of Laramie still fighting to own their own history, their own identity, their own story, and part of that is shaped by how they understand what happened that night to Matthew," continued company member Leigh Fondakowski.

"It's a fallacy to try to define Laramie the way one would describe an individual. There are 27,000 people in Laramie. There are at least 27,000 Laramies."
-Moiss Kaufman, creator of The Laramie Project

And on another note -

Long-time MMSC favorite, William Connors, will be participating in a series of special readings on Thursday afternoons (3PM) at the Kingston Public Library's Community Room. Starting on Thursday, November 4, Bill will be reading Ray Bradbury's SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES. Open to listeners of all ages, the program is specifically designed to appeal to middle-school age audiences. Bill says "Come out of the cold. Be chilled and warmed and encouraged. Listen to a classic tale from the imagination of one of America's greatest modern story tellers."
Stay tuned.

In the coming weeks we will be asking your advice to make selections for our by-now-infamous Winter Encore Series! What shows from the MMSC archives would you like to see again? Maybe Michael Hollinger's Opus? What about Theresa Rebeck's Mauritius? Wait, wait, don't tell us - the one about the dog! Think about it. We'll be asking soon.

Also, be sure that December 10 & 11 are saved for our 3rd Old Time Radio Show. This year we will be featuring The Thin Man,  Captain Midnight and the Fred Allen Show, among others.

And finally, MMSC has been invited to join in bringing in the holiday spirit up at Mohonk Mountain House on December 2  with some of our seasonal favorites. If you happen to be up on the mountain that night, stop by.

Hope to see you on November 5 & 6 for The Laramie Project; Ten Years Later. We are always glad to see you.

Sincerely,

Bob and all of the good folks at MMSC
