Raw, powerful, visceral.
Sweet, tender, quiet.
Rowdy, funny, bawdy.

It's the energy that draws you forward in your seat.
It's the pulse that makes you engage.
It's the spark that makes you think.

Greetings!

Spring has (almost) sprung. We've set our clocks ahead by one hour. And that must mean it's time for the good folks here at MMSC to announce our upcoming spring and summer season.

So, drum roll, please. We are excited to bring you three regional Hudson Valley premieres, one MMSC original literary evening, an encore, a benefit and the return of one of our most popular programs, MMSC's own Cold Buffet.

And it all starts this coming week-end with the Hudson Valley premiere of Michael Hollinger's Opus. That's sex, drugs and chamber music. Who could ask for anything more?

Hope to see you soon!

Bob
And all of the good folks at MMSC

OPUS

OPUS

By Michael Hollinger

Directed by Christine Crawfis

Featuring Michael Frohnhoefer, David Mossey, Thom Webb, Gerry Brooks and Janet Nurre

In a world where characters are instruments and scenes are movements, a world-class, high-strung string quartet prepares for their highest-profile performance ever.  As musical ambitions collide with personal dynamics, their rehear

sal room becomes a pressure cooker and their world begins to fall apart.  Passions rise, personalities clash, and the players are forced to confront the ephemeral nature of their life's work.

"Sex, drugs, and chamber music!"

"...marked by a nuanced intelligence in its depiction of the complex relationship between musician's lives and their art."

- Charles Isherwood, New York Times

Mauritius
by Theresa Rebeck

Stamp collecting is far more risky than you think. Two estranged half-sisters discover a book of rare stamps that may include the crown jewel for collectors. One sister tries to collect on the windfall, while the other resists for sentimental reasons. In this gripping tale, a seemingly simple sale becomes dangerous when three seedy, high-stakes collectors enter the sisters' world, willing to do anything to claim the rare find as their own.
