Raw, powerful, visceral.
Sweet, tender, quiet.
Rowdy, funny, bawdy.
It's the energy that draws you forward in your seat.
It's the pulse that makes you engage.
It's the spark that makes you think.

Greetings!

Yes---We have gone live with an MMSC Facebook page (High Fives, Please!!!).  We had enough interest/curiosity from our real world friends that we decided to stick our toes into the virtual social networking waters and see what happens.
facebook picture
Let me stress that becoming a friend of MMSC through Facebook is strictly voluntary.

So right now you may be wondering  . . . . . .

OK--so what do I get by being a Facebook friend of MMSC?

  • You get updates on events, new photos, and my thoughts on how rehearsals are going (with expletives deleted).
  • You can hear audio previews of upcoming shows.
  • You can give us feedback on our upcoming season, suggestions for future shows, or your comments on our last production (with expletives deleted, please).
  • You can tell us what other shows you have seen that might work in our format.
  • You can connect with MMSC actors, friends and fans and exchange messages with them (expletives acceptable here).

Sound like fun?

How do I become a Facebook friend of MMSC?

  1. If you already have a Facebook account, just type our Facebook email address (chris@mmstageco.com) into the "Invite Friends" box (you can find it in the drop-down menu under the "Friends" tab in the blue area at the top of your homepage).  After typing in our address, click on "Invite" and faster than you can say "cyberspace" you will become our latest friend.
  2. If you don't already have a Facebook account, you will need to create one.  It's Free.  Just go to the Facebook web site (www,Facebook.com) and sign up with an email address and a password. You can do as much or as little as you wish with your personal homepage, such as post a picture of yourself (or of someone you wished you looked like) and put some basic info in your profile (place of birth, schools, prison record, etc).   Or not. Once you get the account, follow the "Invite Friends" directions above.

What if I don't want to be a Facebook Friend?

Don't worry-you'll still get our emailed newsletter and be as much a part of our extended MMSC family as always.  Nothing will change.

But if you want to give it a try, remember that I, a card-carrying membtroglodyteer of TA (Troglodytes Anonymous) figured it out and have fun with it.  If I can do it, anyone can.

And be sure to join us on Friday and Saturday nights at Unison for a reunion with everyone's Best Friend, Sylvia. See you there!

SYLVIA
by A R Gurney

What if your dog could talk?

Our # 1
most requested encore!

Sylvia is street-smart, outspoken and sweeps Greg off his feet! So what's new? Nothing, except that Sylvia just happens to be a dog!

A dog who is a shameless flirt, who not only talks back when spoken to, but quotes Homer and sings Cole Porter. This sassy little mongrel immediately becomes a major bone of contention between Greg and his wife.

Don't believe it? You'd better see it - even if you're a cat lover! Cartoon dog

"Dramatic literature is stuffed with memorable love scenes, but none is as immediately delicious and dizzy as the one in A. R. Gurney's new comedy, Sylvia... a hysterical comedy for anyone who's ever owned a dog, loved a dog, or wanted to wring a dog's neck"
- The New York Times

MMSC's production of A R Gurney's Sylvia features Bruce Pileggi, Cindy Kubik, Richard Cattabiani and Christine Crawfis as Sylvia.

Filled with bon bons, bon mots, bubble baths and Chanel No. 5, this warm and engaging one-woman show brings us an Ann Landers we've never seen before.
Ann Landers
For decades, newspaper columnist and Chicago icon Ann Landers dispensed wit and wisdom to lovelorn teens, confused couples, and others in need of advice. Now she finds herself writing a column about a new kind of heartbreak-her own. Drawn from her life and letters, this touchingly comic portrait will remind you why so many put their faith in this wise, funny, no-nonsense woman.

"...a warmhearted play...highly entertaining, frequently moving..." Chicago Tribune.

The Year of Magical Thinking

A Play by Joan Didion Based on Her Memoir

Sometimes, one person seated on a stage can illuminate a world. One of America's greatest writers, Didion both adapts and expands upon her award-winning, bestselling memoir about the year following the sudden loss of her husband, John Gregory Dunne, to also tell about the unexpected death of their only child. Didion transforms her most personal story of love and loss to touch us all with astonishing intimacy, surprising humor, and language that is fresh and new.
