The End of NFJ
nfjlogo
When we left the story of the End of NFJ, we explained that our wonderful Nan (of NFJ fame) will be moving out of the Hudson Valley and on to Philadelphia.

Philadelphia = no more NFJ for MMSC.

And so, we announced that these  last two week-ends in June would be the final opportunities to purchase NFJ.

Little did we know how seriously you would take this
Call to Action.

Miss Nan was almost sold out on the first night of Indian Blood!

By the second night (Saturday, June 23rd) we had seen the last of NFJ!

Because each flavor of NFJ is unique and one-of-a-kind, the NFJ motto continues to be  "when it's gone, it's really gone."

We'll try to convince Nan to get out the old jam pot one more time and cook up a batch or two before the two performances of Screen Play.

We'll see. You'll just have to come to Unison on June 29 or 30 and find out.

And remember, a portion of the proceeds from every NFJ purchase is donated to the Mohonk Mountain Stage Company's Theatre Scholarship Fund.

Well, my friend. This is it.

We proudly present the Hudson Valley premiere of A R Gurney's hilarious tribute to Casablanca and Buffalo, Screen Play.

With that we conclude our Spring '07 Season.

Also on Friday, June 29 we bid a final farewell to  NFJ.

So, that's this issue. Read on.

Directed by Christine E. Crawfis

It's 2015. America is going to hell in a handbasket. Americans are emigrating, and passports are being canceled. Into Nick's Bar in Buffalo, NY, step freedom fighter Walter Wellman and his wife Sally who need letters of transit to get into Canada.

Will world-weary Nick, Sally's jilted lover, come to their aid? Award-winning playwright A.R. Gurney (The Dining Room, Sylvia, Love Letters) fashions a work of love and politics with liberal doses of humor and large helpings of a classic 1940's film.

The final performance of Screen Play on June 30th marks an important conclusion for MMSC's Bob MIller and Christine Crawfis.

Mohonk Mountain Stage Company (MMSC) has, over the past twelve years, been an integral part of the cultural landscape of the Hudson Valley. Since our very beginning in 1994,

  • we have presented hundreds of programs for young and adult audiences;
  • we have performed the classics of dramatic, poetic and narrative literature, as well as the work of recently published writers;
  • we have nurtured young writers through our New Playwrights Program, both with the Dramatic Writing Program at SUNY (State University of New York) at New Paltz and in our on-going presentation of new work;
  • we have given an annual scholarship to a high school senior who intends to study the dramatic arts in college;
  • and we have published Vanguard Voices of the Hudson Valley, an on-going literary journal dedicated to bringing new works of drama and poetry to the attention of our audiences.
None of this could have been possible without the love and spirit of our incredible band of MMSC actors, playwrights and directors. Their devotion to MMSC over these past twelve years has been our raison d'être. They are more than our MMSC Company, they are our dear friends.

So, thanks for sharing our vision. It's been a blast. Here's to many more years of sharing the magic of the Spoken Word. May we all grow older and wiser together.

Love, Bob and Chris
