"We live on the 5th floor of Derby Lofts. Yesterday morning, there was black flecks all over the snow. The new snow covered it up. This black unburnt coal dust started to cover our deck around June 2008. Our deck is filthy. I have asthma." 2/4/09

   - dirty smoke from stacks
 
   - mile long smoke plumes

   - greasy soot or coal dust on your window sills, outdoor furniture or boat deck
 
   - fly ash dumping

   - noises, smells, coal pile fires, etc.

   - emergency activity at the plant (fire trucks, ambulances)

Opaque stack pollution is a VIOLATION and the DEP should be notified at once -  1-888-VIOLATE.
 
plume2.4.09We are investigating the burning of crumb rubber tire fuel and used oil at the plant and are gearing up to certify individuals in smoke stack opacity training.
