Eight Rules for Implementing High-Performance Responsive Design
by David Wilkeson , CTO
 | David Wilkerson |
The goal of responsive design is to deliver content through device agnostic and "future proof" page implementation. That's the good news. The bad news-as Tim Kadlec states in Implementing Responsive Design-is that "the Web is an incredibly unstable environment."
As I'm sure many of you recall, when the Web first emerged, so did the start of the web browser wars. A lot of effort was expended trying to make pages that were adaptable to "both" browser types. Back then we thought that developing pages was complex. In retrospect, that was nothing.
Consider my iPhone for a moment. I can access a page over Wi-Fi or a cellular signal. I can hold it vertically or horizontally. The four possible combinations suggest many alternative designs for displaying content on just my device alone, but what about my iPad, or my wife's Retina display iPhone, or one of my daughters' Android phones? Then there's the friend with a Blackberry, the computer at home with an HD display, etc. And finally there are many browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera to consider.
But wait, there are other concerns. Read more

Big Opportunities in Resource Deployment and Services for Q4!
by Deborah Corcoran, National Director for Resource Deployment Services to IBM
 | Deborah Corcoran |
How do you get to work on IBM/ISSC client projects and collaborate with IBM teams using the latest IBM Collaboration Software?
Well, the answer is quite simple-if you have seven or more years of solid experience in contracting and have kept up with learning the most recent releases in the IBM Software stack, send your resume to dcorcoran@davalen.com or contact me directly at Davalen, LLC.
Davalen is a premier BP to IBM/ISSC. We provide IBM/ISSC and Davalen clients with technical experts who are skilled and IBM certified in the suite of IBM Collaboration software. Seasoned consultants who are willing to travel to various client locations with reimbursed expenses, and who are constantly redefining their skill sets, are just who we are looking for. It is not unusual to see someone who once specialized in Domino development and Java, reinvent themselves and re-swizzle their careers successfully into the WEF (IBM Web Experience Factory) space. WEF has been trending over the past twelve months as the most sought after IBM skill set in my requisition drop box-with additional requests for WebSphere Portal, and WCM (IBM Web Content Management) Architecture and Development coming in as a close second. Another huge request in my drop box is for those who hold Top Secret, Secret, and Poly tested clearances; these contract positions are usually multi-year contracts!
