Adding Custom Dynamic Content to a Theme

One purpose of theme customization is to enrich a site by delivering some content ubiquitously. Though delivery of most content is accomplished through portlets delivery, in a theme provides delivery of the same content throughout pages in the site that employ the same theme. That is, as a user navigates from page to page, certain content is consistently displayed. Out of the box examples of this approach are illustrated by the search widget, help link, username display, etc.
There are two logical approaches to delivering content in a theme: client-side logic and server-side logic. Client-side logic consists of JavaScript, iWidget, and live text that is stored in a WebDAV file store and is referenced in the file theme.html. A significant benefit of client-side logic is offloading of content aggregation to the browser. Further, the development of these components can be delegated to web designers using conventional web design tools.

Davalen Continues to Expand as Customer Base Grows
IBM Premier Business Partner Announces Plans to Open Operations in Dallas/Ft. Worth Summer 2012 This month, Davalen, LLC announced plans to develop a new presence in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Davalen began accepting contracts beginning May 1, 2012 for work in the IBM WebSphere Portal Development space, with room for more services in the near future. This office will be Davalen's first official presence in the state of Texas. "We could not be more excited to begin offering services in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area," says Dave Jacob, Davalen's managing partner and chief sales director. "With offices across the United States and so much demand in the Dallas area, it is a natural transition for our company to begin offering services in the area full-time. This also means job creation for a local-based staff."

A Company Milestone: Davalen says "Thank You" to Ann Hamm

On March 29th, Davalen members across the country came together for one purpose-to celebrate the career of Lotus guru, Ann Hamm. Ann has been an integral part of the company since its early days as a Lotus development and training shop. After sixteen years, Ann has seen so much change in the life of this company and has been major contributor to it all. With specialties in Lotus Domino development and administration, Ann consulted and trained clients across the world. She supported several longstanding clients for over ten years. After almost twenty years in business, it is hard to believe that Davalen has been around long enough for someone to retire.
When discussing the first Davalen retirement, managing partner, Dave Jacob, said, "This is not something I was thinking about when I incorporated the company as JSI in October 1993. I had a grand total employee count of one-me, and a first year revenue of $22,000. Fortunately for me, and the success of the company, others-namely Ann Hamm, David Wilkerson, and Dan Smith-took a chance and joined me." Read more
