As victims of Hurricane Katrina spread throughout the United States people taking refuge in Connecticut are eligible to receive special federal nutrition assistance.

In the case of food stamps, Hurricane Katrina victims may be certified under expedited service rules.

For school meals, if a family from a designated disaster area moves in with a host family, they are automatically considered homeless and eligible for free meals.
