Dear Friends and Clients,
With Fall underway we are pleased to announce we are opening in Los Angeles. I am excited to be expanding our consulting services into southern California as LA is such a dynamic contemporary art market.
We are also expanding our web presence. You can now become a fan of Blue Tangerine Art on Facebook, and follow me on twitter: @trudymontgomery to art fairs and exhibitions and openings. We have also recently archived all our newsletters online.
This month we introduce the contemporary landscape paintings of Los Angeles artist Rachel Holloway. Trained at the Slade in London and originally from Wales, Holloway works out of a long tradition of English landscape painting, making it very much her own. Her watercolors and large scale oil paintings capture the quiet drama of the Californian landscape.
And finally, with Art Basel Miami Beach coming up in a
couple of months, don't delay in booking travel and accommodation
arrangements. Turon Travel is the official travel partner. I look forward to seeing you there.
Best regards, Trudy
p.s. Don't forget to check out our ARTicles and Must See Exhibitions listing (see left).

Rachel Holloway Contemporary Landscape Paintings

A graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art, widely
respected for its rigorous teaching of painting, Rachel has exhibited more than 20 times throughout the UK.
During her many excursions through California and Wales,
Rachel Holloway has painted and photographically documented formal components
of the terrain. Drawing in ink and watercolor paint in situ allows
Holloway to
respond fluidly to visual information in the field that would otherwise be missed from working from photographs alone. Back in the
studio, she then expands and elaborates on these themes on large oil
paintings.
Attention is placed on formal issues such as line,
pattern, rhythm, light and color. However, the mood and heightened
sense of space is more important than any realism.
Art critic Peter Clothier notes of Rachel Holloway's work: "Working--surprisingly, at this scale and with this density of image--in watercolor, Rachel Holloway opens up a wonderful sense of space by the inclusion of up-close foreground material and, in this painting, with the power lines draped from where we stand, as viewers, way into the distant hills. Their effect is also to draw the eye into the picture, bringing us along with it, and focusing its impact."
To view available work by Holloway, including original watercolors and oil paintings, please visit our website. To arrange a viewing in person, please contact me.
