Dear Friends,

For the past six months, Blue Tangerine Art has been advising on a large coastal resort development in Morocco with a series of luxury villas and hospitality products. We've had the privilege of identifying art for the project from Morocco and beyond, and we share a few of our finds with you here.

Part of our mission at Blue Tangerine Art is to provide access to the world of art. This month, art advisor Trudy Montgomery presents two art seminars
: 'Understanding the World of Art Collecting' for artists on Friday November 7th; and for collectors, 'The Top Ten Rules for New Collectors' on Friday November 22nd. For details and to RSVP, visit our events page.

We are delighted to showcase artist Patter Hellstrom this month who considers the apposite theme of Stability within Chaos her new acrylic panels. Hellstrom paints circular motifs of color to create an image based on the Buddhist mandala, a representation of harmony and the cosmos. Read our interview with the artist.

November is auction season in New York. Watch for contemporary art results from Christie's and Sotheby's during the week of November 10.  Art fair season takes over next month when Art Basel Miami Beach Art Fair and its satellite fairs kick into orbit. See our Art Diary Dates below.

Please email us with your art consulting questions and join us via appointment at our San Francisco gallery space.

Art advising for luxury resort in Morocco

We're pleased to announce we've been retained by a 5 star coastal resort in Morocco. For the past six months Blue Tangerine Art has been advising on a large mixed use development in Morocco with a series of villas and hospitality products.

We are  establishing a visual reference for the project that reflects a whimsical, sensuous and contemporary feel. We've had the benefit of identifying a variety of painting, drawing, sculpture and objets d'art sourced in Morocco and from around the world. We share a handful of our favorite pieces with you here.

Patter Hellstrom
Stability within Chaos

Hellstrom-acrylicPatter Hellstrom's artwork has been influenced by her interest in the Eastern traditions of religion and the arts. Fluid brushstrokes create dynamic movement around an x-axis.  Using the Buddhist idea of the mandala, or the representation of the cosmos, Hellstrom explores ideas of impermanence, stability and movement.  Despite the unpredictable nature of the materials used, a balance is maintained through the use of circular motifs and the exploration of concepts of interdependence.

Hellstrom says of her work: "Equilibrium is reached in my work as structural lines hold despite insistent disruptions.  This work speaks to stability within chaos."

In her latest work, Hellstrom moves from painting directly on yupo paper to large format calligraphic panels made of face-mounted polypropylene film on acrylic sheets.  Working in a larger scale allows the work to come alive off the paper and into the viewer's space as a floating cosmos.

Read our interview with Patter Hellstrom and view more images of her artwork online.

Also on view this month is Chance Wind, an exhibition of Patter Hellstrom's works on paper at the Linearis Institute in San Francisco, through November 13.
