Dear Clients and Friends,

Welcome to our first Blue Tangerine Art e-newsletter of 2008. An art advisory firm based in San Francisco and London, Blue Tangerine Art works with collectors to find modern and contemporary art that satisfies your aesthetic, budget and collecting goals.

2007 saw us extend our art advisory services to hotels, interior designers and architects, helping them source, acquire and display work from both established and emerging artists. We're pleased to announce that clients have recently acquired and commissioned works by Max Gimblett, Eric Zener, Richard Misrach, Donald Sultan, Allison Hunter, Anne Stahl, Bella Pieroni and Kathy Montgomery, among others. Please check out our artists online.

What's new in 2008? We're pleased to announce the launch of our new website which provides access to an expanded portfolio of contemporary artists via our widening network of galleries in Britain and America.

We'll continue to report from the major art fairs (including Art Basel and Art Basel Miami Beach).  We look forward to seeing you at the Los Angeles Art Show later in January.

Highlights from Miami

A staggering 1155 dealers opened shop in Miami in December. With 20 satellite fairs in addition to the main attraction of Art Basel Miami Beach (ABMB), collectors were overwhelmed with the quantity of art on offer and the distance to be covered.

Galleries and visitors alike complained of art fair fatigue by day 3 with some dealers concerned about the dilution of booth traffic, and many predicting (and hoping for) a contraction in the number of satellite fairs in 2008. Yet with prices strong, and dealers reporting brisk sales to both US and European collectors (at least at ABMB), industry outlook remains robust for the time being.
