During its recently held monthly meeting, the Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees recognized Memorial High School Coach Gary Koch following his recent induction into the Houston-area High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame.

 

In addition, Trustees reviewed construction- and design-related updates on the new Frostwood Elementary School. They also discussed possible amendments to the Board of Trustees operating procedures, among other meeting actions.

Honors for Coach Koch  

 

Memorial High Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Gary Koch was recently inducted into the Ronnie Bell Hall of Honor by the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association. Five district coaches have also earned this honor. They include Memorial High head coaches Les Koenning and Wayne Hooks, Stratford High Coach Oscar Cripps, and Spring Woods High coaches Mike Sciba and Kevin O'Keefe. Coach Koch has coached for 35 years in SBISD schools. At Memorial High, he has coached two state championship games in 1978 and 1987, as well as many football playoff appearances. The Mustangs have won five district championships, had 11 playoff teams, and reached the state semi-finals in 2010.


In addition, Coach Koch has been selected district coach of the year four times and has been a finalist for Houston Touchdown Club area coach of the year three times.

  • Held first readings on local policies on Professional Development: Required Staff Development and Employee Standards of Conduct: Searches and Alcohol/Drug Testing
  • Approved adoption of TASB Policy Update 93
  • Approved agreement for payment in lieu of ad valorem taxes with Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc.
  • Approved numerous Consent Agenda Items
