Spring Branch Education Foundation's mission is to provide resources to enhance the quality of education for every student in the Spring Branch Independent School District. The Foundation also provides the vehicle for approved, tax-deductible gifts by donors.

Fund for the Future Endowment

Fund for the Future, now in its fourth year, is a permanent endowment that will provide a perpetual source of income to the Foundation. Earned income will fund future programs, while the principal will be preserved. The Endowment has $754,231toward a $1 million goal. Endowment funds are being conservatively invested with the Greater Houston Community Foundation.

 

Raising funds for grants and scholarships

  • The 16th annual Fall Classics golf tournament, co-chaired by SBEF Board member Roy Montalbano, attracted 36 teams and raised $80,407.
  • The first annual Style Show and Luncheon, chaired by Wendy Moreland, supported the Crystal Awards Gala, raising $12,672.
  • The 19th annual Crystal Awards Gala, co-chaired by Becky and Mike Robertson, raised $135,549and was a sold-out event; SBEF granted $25,000 to the Houston Chronicle's Readers are Leaders Foundation.
  • Running for the Arts, chaired by LaSondra Frenza, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a record 3,057 registrations and participation from 42 of SBISD's 45 schools; the event raised $78,864, almost $11,000 more than last year! SBEF granted $35,000 to SBISD's Fine Arts department, $10,000 to the Health Fitness department, $3,500 to the Altharetta Yeargin Art Museum (AYAM) and $2,200 to AYAM from the event's art auction.

SBEF awarded a record 66 scholarships in the amount of $86,000.

 

SBEF Employee Campaign Scholarships

Thanks to very generous employees, SBEF's 2011-12 Employee Campaign had a record year! Scholarships of $2,000 were awarded to 27 graduates, children of SBISD employees.

Leadership Houston Flight XXV Scholarship

These scholarships, $700 each, were awarded to Northbrook High School students who have been mentored since they attended Landrum Middle School, by Leadership Houston participants: Rut Aguilar, Uriel Borjas, Alejandra Carreon, Jennifer Duenas, Jose Figueroa, Estrella Garcia, Sarai Guerrero, Jose Hernandez, Adriana Huertas-Joaquin, Julia Milian, Shun Minor, Elizabeth Mojica, Homero Perez, Virginia Pineda, Oscar Ramirez Rios, Victor Reyes, Arturo Romero, Gabriela Ruiz, Ana Taveras and Aurelia Valdez.

 

SBEF is Preparing for 2012-13

Mike Rome will lead the Board of Directors as chair. The Board welcomes new members: Katherine Dawson, Melissa DeAyala, Mike Falick, Paul Morton, Drew Tingleaf and Susan Marks.
