It's Been A Great Year So Far!
So far this school year, we have much to be proud of:
Continued success in meeting our overarching goal of post-secondary readiness and completion for our graduates. More students are taking the SAT and ACT, and more students are doing better on these tests. In the coming semester, we'll focus even more attention on making sure that as many of our graduates as possible enroll in and attend college in the fall of 2012.  We are also proud that the system earned a combined total of 95 Gold Performance Recognitions from the state in recognition of strong and improved academic achievement across the district. Increased community engagement. In late October, we recognized a record 185 Good Neighbors - our superlative partners who go above and beyond for you and your students every day. As we strive to increase the number of partners and volunteers strategically helping us achieve our mission, we are proud to have more than 10,000 registered volunteers for the first time in SBISD history! Three fabulous new schools and five more under construction. Earlier this fall, we celebrated grand opening of three incredible new state-of-the art elementary schools and saw steel go up on the five schools under construction. We also sold nearly $150 million in bonds for new construction and refinancing of older bonds at 3.52%, the lowest historical rates we've seen in decades. Watch video link >>
Strong rating in the State's recently-released FAST system. Last week, the Texas Comptroller's office released the results of its new FAST system. SBISD earned an outstanding rating of 4.5 out of 5 Stars in this new program, which blends financial efficiency and academic performance to give an overall school district rating. This rating is a testament to everyone's hard work to manage our budget in increasingly lean times while continuing to achieve higher levels of academic achievement. Watch video link >>
