Late Night Snacking & Weight Gain
Snacking boils down to two main things,
comfort and boredom. When you snuggle into the couch at night and pull
the
covers over you with a big bag of your favorite snack food, a warm sense
of
comfort rolls over you. You're nested and you love it. You have a great
program on TV, a warm blanket and your good friend, Mr. Snacks. Comfort
eating doesn't get any better than late night with a good movie while
you're chowing down on a massive bag of Cool Ranch Doritos and a huge
bowl
of ranch dip. Learn why late night snacking is the perfect storm for
packing on fat! |

Why Are Vitamins & Minerals Important?
Vitamins and minerals are sometimes called micronutrients. Our bodies
need them, in small amounts, to support the chemical reactions our cells
need to live. Different nutrients affect digestion, the nervous system,
thinking, and other body processes.
Micronutrients can be found in many foods. Healthy people might be
able to get enough vitamins and minerals from their food.
But, there are some nutrients that a hard-working athlete, one who's
working out multiple times a day several times a week, does need help
with. That's because all that exercise usually means they need an
increase in vitamins and minerals-one they don't have time to pull
together from a wide-ranging diet. They're either burning through more
of these nutrients during their workout or losing them through sweat or
waste. What all this boils down to is this: Athletes need to process a
prodigious amount of food quickly and efficiently if they want to
perform their best day after day. And to do that, they need
micronutrients (vitamins and minerals).
