Schools Out For Summer (well almost), Now What?
In just a few short weeks the kids will be out for summer, then what? Olathe Parks & Recreation and our partners have plenty of options to keep the kids busy this summer from sports camps, enrichment camps, Mahaffie and the four pools there is something to keep everyone busy.
- K-State Food Fun With Kids- Did you know research shows cooking with your kids helps decrease childhood obesity? Food Fun with Kids brings you and your favorite kid into the .
kitchen and teaches great tips for fun kid-friendly recipes! - Free Summer Concerts - Join us for our FREE Summer Concert Series on Friday's throughout June and July. Check out the Summer Concert Line-Up!
- Summer Reading Program - Join the Library for the annual summer reading program. The fun starts at 10 a.m.,Tuesday, May 29 with the summer reading kick-off at both branches. For more information visit, www.olathelibrary.org
- Mahaffie - Activites and fun abound at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm. Visit the animals, learn about life on the farm in the 1860's and so much more! Open daily Wed.-Sat. 10 am-4 pm. with Free Family Nights each Thursday until 8 p.m.To view daily activities visit the Mahaffie website.

Having Fun Pool Side
Soak up the sun pool side this summer at one of Olathe's four pools. Millcreek, Oregon Trail, Frontier and Black Bob Bay open Saturday, May 26 for the season and beyond the pools and slides we have a great group of events coming up this summer visit our aquatics event page or preview here:
- Early Parent/Tot Swim - Want to swim with your younger child (ages 5 and under) without the crowds? Parent/Tot swim is back.Available Mon, Wed & Fri at Black Bob Bay and Tues/Thurs. at Oregon Trail pool from 10:30-12 a.m. Punch passes are available at the pools or the recreation office
- Camp Out at the Bay - Bring dad and the tent and enjoy a night of fun at Black Bob park. Participants will roast hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire, swim and play games. Registration is required.
- Pepsi Float Days - Join Pepsi and The Vibe, 95.7 fm, at the pool this summer 1-3 p.m. for free Pepsi ice cream floats and music! While supplies last - 5/27 (Black Bob Bay), 6/3 (Oregon Trail), 6/10 (Millcreek), 6/17 (Frontier) & 6/24 (Black Bob Bay)
- River Walk - River Walk is back on Mon., Wed and Thurs. night for adults 18 and over. Walk against the current and get your heart rate up! Regular. pool admission applies.
- Father's Day Swim - Dad's swim free at all of our pools!

First Touch-A-Truck, ETC June 9
We are teaming up with the Braden's Hope Walk for Childhood Cancer on Saturday, June 9. Join us for the free Touch-A-Truck event 9-11 at Frontier Park. Kids of all ages will have a chance to climb on and discover everything from a fire truck, spade truck, stagecoach and more! Be sure to bring the camera to catch all of their excitement! Touch-A-Truck is open to the public, but you can also register to participate in the walk or purchase a game and food pass at Braden's Hope. |

The weather is great to take a walk or go for a bike ride with your family or for a little personal relaxation. Discover one of Olathe's 42 parks or travel the 20 plus miles of trail this spring and bring nature into your world each day. In fact did you know that children and adults who spend time outdoors have a better time conentrating on tasks and have a higher feeling of self-worth.
