Spring and Summer Activities are Underway! The 2012 Spring/Summer guide is out and registration is underway. With more than 350 activities, classes and sports to choose from there is a little something for everyone. Check out our featured programs for the month of April:
- Travel Club- Join us on May 12 for a historic tour of Greater Kansas City. Learn more about the schedule and cost on our Travel Club page.
- K-State Food Fun With Kids- Did you know research shows cooking with your kids helps decrease childhood obesity? Food Fun with Kids brings you and your favorite kid into the kitchen and teaches great tips for fun kid-friendly recipes!
- Prairie Life- We are excited to partner with Prairie Life Fitness check out the great adult fitness class opportunities!

SNAG Golf Comes to Olathe
Do you love to golf? Want a great way to teach your kids, friends or family to play? Join us on Saturday, April 28 for a free preview of our upcoming program, SNAG Golf. SNAG is a cross between mini golf and traditional golf and is designed to teach basic skills and a love for the game. This free family event is Saturday, April 28 at Stagecoach Park (1205 North Kansas City Road) across from Mahaffie from 10 am-2 pm. |

Special Olympics Spring Sports Sign-Up
Spring sports sign-up is underway for the Olathe Trailblazers. Participants have a variety of activities to choose from including track, aquatics, tennis, cycling, gymnastics as well as t-ball, coach pitch and softball. Sign-up today! |

Farmers' Market Set to Open
Are you trying to get in your 5-7 fruits and veggies a day; concerned about your carbon footprint? Visit the Olathe farmers' market starting Saturday, April 21 at 8 a.m.
The Olathe Farmers' Market was established more than 25 years ago. Vendors offer for sale products that have been grown in our geographic region. Regionally grown merchandise is defined as any item that is grown within a 150 radius of Olathe.
Ever wonder what to do with the great new vegetables you foudn at the market? We are excited to partner with K-State Olathe Innovation Campus to offer Farmer's Market Food Fun! Learn great recipes made with fresh ingredients from the market!

Mahaffie Is In Full Bloom
Spring into the stagecoach! Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop is open Wednesday-Saturday 10am-4pm, Sundays noon-4pm. Weekends in April and May, Mahaffie will host living history activities. Activities may include stagecoach rides, visiting the blacksmith and 19th century games. Admission for weekend activities is $6/adults, $4/children ages 5-11, under 4 free. Admission Wednesday-Friday for the Heritage Center is $3/adults, $2/children ages 5-11, under 4 free. Olathe residents receive $1/off admission.

Arbor Week Celebration
Arbor week begins April 23. The City of Olathe will host a tree planting at Walnut Grove Elementary one room schoolhouse on Wed., April 25 at 1:30 p.m. The tree spade will be used to plant a young Western Soapberry an offspring of the nations largest Western Soapberry located here in Olathe.
As part of the ceremony and in honor of the one room school house restoration, students from Walnut Grove Elementary and Rick Spurgeon, city arborist, will dress in period clothing. Join us for this great Arbor Week event. |
