2013 Season
ALL TIME RECORD!
WTCSRLOGO

Before the 2012 season we were happy to report some big news and some big changes at Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation. First, attendance at Wah-Tut-Ca broke an all time record and, as a result, an additional week was added to the summer camp season. Second, based on feedback from units, we re-opened Pawtucket as another waterfront camp site complete with a brand new Clivus composting toilet and the site got great reviews this summer.

This year, attendance at Wah-Tut-Ca again broke the record, crossing the 1,200 camper line for the first time in the camp's history.

MORE WAH-TUT-CA PER WEEK IN 2013!!!
WTCSRSTAFF1

Once again we're using feedback from parents and units to extend the summer camp experience. In 2013, a week of summer camp at Wah-Tut-Ca Scout reservation will end with an official closing ceremony on Saturday morning.

This change will allow Scouts to have a full day of program on Friday followed by a campfire featuring the troops themselves! It also gives the staff more time to double check paper work, lets the troop pack up at a more leisurely pace and means that parents won't have to leave work early and fight traffic heading north on a Friday to pick up their boys.

We're very excited about the change and look forward to the new opportunities it brings. A few of the details are still being worked out, so look for an official schedule for Saturday mornings in early January.

OUTSTANDING CUB SCOUT SUMMER

Cub Summer Programs a Great Success

This summer nearly 1,000 Cub Scouts attended summer programs put on by the Yankee Clipper Council. Cubs and parents enjoyed some friendly competition at the MoonRaker Summer Games in Topsfield and a worldwide tour with their Pass Port to Cub World at the West Wind Day Camp in Chelmsford. At Lone Tree, the Cub Overnight Weekend featured video games come to life at iCOW, Lone Tree Day Camp and Camp So-Kee-Tay for Webelos Scouts enjoyed some colorful fun at Destination Animation, and families got a chance to relax and explore Lone Tree at one of our Family Camping Weekends.

Plans are already under way for another great summer next year and we'd love to have even more boys with us next year. If you and your son had a great time at one of our camps and want to help get the word out to others about the fun you had, please get in touch with Dan Smith at 978-302-8136 or YCCCampComm@gmail.com.
MAKING OUR CAMPS EVEN BETTER
Legacy Build

Help make your camps a better place!

There are always projects that need to get done around Lone Tree and Wah-Tut-Ca. Some are small, needing only one or two people, some a big, requiring an entire troop. Some need the skilled hands of a plumber or electrician, some just need many hands. Some are indoor jobs, some are outdoor jobs. Some will only take an hour or two, some take a weekend or two. If you're interested in making Wah-Tut-Ca and Lone Tree better places for the thousands of people who use them every year, we've got a job for you - no matter your skill level or the amount of time you have to give.

The Property and Maintenance Committees, headed by Dan Farrell at Wah-Tut-Ca and by Dan Ross at Lone Tree, have scheduled some work weekends this fall to get a good start on projects.

At Wah-Tut-Ca, work weekends will be held the last Saturday of the month in September (9/29), October (10/27) and November (11/24).

At Lone Tree, the work weekends will be the third Saturday of the month through the end of the year (10/20, 11/17, and 12/15).

Projects will start at 9:00 Saturday morning and lunch will be provided.

Get in touch with us - if you can't make one of those weekends, we have projects that can be done at any time; if your troop wants to take on a project we have a list to choose from; if you see something around camp that you think can be improved that's not on our list, we can work with you to put a plan in place to get it done.

Winter Camping For Cubs!
SNOWBOARDING1

Last year the Camping Committee approved the use of six cabins for Pack Overnighters throughout the winter. Don't let your pack miss out on some great outdoor activities!

Cubs can use SACAWACAS, Kiwanis and Pentucket Cabins, at Lone Tree Scout Reservation and Northbrook, Kemosabee and Wannalancit Cabins at Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation. All cabins are heated by a wood stove, water is available nearby from frost-free pumps, and there are nearby bathroom facilities.

Your pack can make reservations by calling the office at 978-372-0591, emailing Wendy Perez at wperez@bsamail.org, or filling out the form located at http://www.yccbsa.org/camps/OffSeasonCamping.htm

Don't forget that your pack will need to meet all the requirements in the Guide to Safe Scouting for trained leadership and Youth Protection Training. Approval of the cabins for winter use was done in accordance with the Guide to Safe Scouting and form 13-508.
