The guest speaker for the Eagle Dinner is Edmund "Ed" Walker, who serves as the Director of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. Ed is known as an accomplished leader with experience in budgeting and financial forecasting, developing programs and policies and the management of personnel and physical resources in both static and dynamic public safety environments. He is a results oriented, decisive leader with proven success in team building and collaboration to reach organizational goals.

 

The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy provides fire training to municipal fire service personnel at no cost to the cities and towns of the Commonwealth. The Academy facilitates fire service certification to stimulate professional development in the Massachusetts fire service and to allow members a means to demonstrate their ability to meet professional qualification standards through an objective measure of their professional knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

BRING YOUR TROOP FLAG 
 
Scouts are asked to bring their Troop flag AND stand for the flag ceremony. Flag must be checked in and be in line by 6:45. Scouts who do not have a Troop flag and Scouts from multiple Eagle Troops will participate in the procession and should be in line by 6:45 as well.

 

WHAT TO WEAR
This year's Eagles only should wear their Class A uniforms with merit badge sash (no OA sash, please). Business attire is requested for all others.

A Gathering of Eagle Scouts

On February 3, 2012 Eagle Scouts from all over the Yankee Clipper Council will gather for an annual dinner. This dinner celebrates all Scouts who earned their Eagle Award in 2011.

 

The night is known to be an inspirational experience as the event brings together a unique group of people who have followed the trail of the Boy Scout's of America and reached the top.

 

The 2011 Class of Eagles is honors long time Scout Leader,Thomas Kehoe. A special feature is the guest speaker Edmund Walker the Director of the Massachusetts Fire Fighting Academy. (See related stories in this publication.)

Honoree, Thomas P. Kehoe

The Yankee Clipper Council is pleased to announce that the Eagle Scout Class of 2011 honoree will be Thomas P. Kehoe, Troop 3 and Executive Board Member, of Manchester, MA.

   Tom began his Scouting career as a Cub Scout with Pack 30 in Manchester, MA in 1956 graduating to Troop 3, Manchester and earning the Eagle Scout award in 1966. Remaining active in Scouting as Assistant Scoutmaster, a position he currently holds, Tom received his BS in Education from Salem State College in 1970 which was the beginning of a long dedicated career to public education and public service.

 

Tom has been recognized as Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year 2000 for North East Massachusetts; Community Hero of Manchester by the American Red Cross of North East Massachusetts and presented with the Distinguished Service Award for Cape Ann Area by Yankee Clipper Council in 2008. A 2010 National Hall of Leadership Nominee from Yankee Clipper Council, Tom's other Scouting recognitions include District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver, Vigil Honor and International Scouter Award.
