Greetings!

What if this was the beginning of a story in your life;
"There once was a chance I did not take..."
 What was the rest of the story?  Would you believe me if I told you that the rest of the story has not been written yet?  Would you dare to believe that you have the power to pick up where you left off and take a chance now? Or to start on something new that you always wanted to do?
So often our creative flow is blocked by the haunting memories of our perceived failures.. We can be superstitious and feel that we only have one chance, or one opportunity and if we missed it, it's over for us; everything else is 2nd best so why try too hard? We don't put our heart into our passion because we believe we have failed ourselves and are doomed to walk the earth a shell of what we could have been.
I say enough of that negative self talk!  I say carpe diem! Cease the day!  Make your own destiny.  Someone once said, one of the greatest lies of all time is that we are bound to fate and have no control over our own destiny.  Bah!!!  The truth is, you have one life to live and it is up to you to go for it and make it a great one!!!
And for those of you who are already freely flowing in your creativity, thank you for the inspiration that you bring to others.

New Artist Award Coming

New Award Honoring Local Artist

to be Presented at Wickford Art Association

Watercolor and Oil Exhibit on May 20

Wickford, RI---To inspire and recognize creativity among watercolor and oil painters, a new annual award will be presented at the Wickford Art Association's Watercolor and Oil Exhibit on May 20.

The "Most Creative Award" is being sponsored by the family of Daphne Henderson, a long-time member and former president of the WAA, to honor her lifetime career in art. Mrs. Henderson is a North Kingstown resident and has been involved in fine arts for more 40 years.

"We are delighted to present this award that honors one of our members and also encourages other artists to stretch their creative limits," says Pam Reed, president of the WAA.

Mrs. Henderson focuses primarily on water media but has also worked extensively in acrylic, ink, pastel and collage. She has won numerous awards for her work from a variety of art organizations and in juried shows throughout the Northeast, Southeast and Rocky Mountain Region. At 87, Mrs. Henderson continues to paint with the same enthusiasm and life-long goal---to produce work that is both creative and original.

The Watercolor and Oil Exhibit is an open juried show running from May 18 through June 3 at the WAA Gallery at 36 Beach Street, Wickford, RI. Artists who wish to enter the show must register and bring their work to the gallery by May 16. The Daphne Henderson Most Creative Award is an annual cash award and certificate. For more information call 401-294-6840 or visit http://www.wickfordart.org/
