We have reached our target goal of $11,000. in fact we have even passed it by $200!!

We all here want to say a huge THANK YOU to you all for supporting us in this project and rallying everyone you knew to help us to reach this goal.

We have given a cheque to the contractor and he has promised to be onsite today. Weather permitting, the job will be finished on Friday, ready for the downpour of rain on Saturday :)

The children are all excited that they are going to have their very own brown water swimming pool :)

Once the job is finished, I will send out an update letter with pictures of the job done.

We are writing to you all now to present something urgent that some of you may be able to assist us with.

Three weeks ago, we began a new project to build a new Boys Dormitory in which we received funding for. To begin the project we needed to hire a Bulldozer to clear the site. There is quite a high charge we have to pay just to get the Dozer here and to transport it back to town.  

Some years ago, we hired a contractor to construct a dam (water storage facility) for us. Upon completion and receiving the first heavy rains, we soon saw that the contractor mis-lead us about the dam holding water. Unfortunately, after all the money we spent on the construction, the dam just did not hold water. It would fill up in a heavy downpour over night, but within 2 weeks, it would all be gone.

So, we decided that while the dozer was here, we would have him dig the dam deeper and smaller, so as we could put in a plastic liner, which is quite expensive. Now, the dozer has finshed his work and the dam is ready for the liner. Its a little urgent for us now, to have the liner installed as there is only one window of opportunity to fill the dam to the top on right now. We are in the middle of the "long rains" season now. Soon the rains will stop and we will miss our window of opportunity and will need to wait till next year.

Is there anyone out there that is in a position to help us raise the funds for this liner, that will assure us of over 3 million litres of precious water? This water is crucial to our agricultural project that at times supplies up to 70% of all our vegetables and grains for our 210 + children and over 40 local staff.

The cost for this liner installed and ready to take in water is 935,000 Kenyan Shillings, or $11,000 Australian Dollars.

We know all of you sponsors must be eagerly awaiting your new sponsorship update about your sponsor child/children. Megan (Volunteer from Adelaide, Australia) will be arriving here again at the end of May to do an update on every child here at EAMO.

Megan has committed herself to coming to EAMO once a year just to see all the EAMO children that she has a love for, and to spend time in our office to do all the updates on every child.
