Q: How much more efficient is T5 over T8, and is it worth it?
A: The T5 effectively is a better and more efficient lamp. However, it isn't a game changing lamp over the T8. For example. If a customer has already purchased T8 lamps, to go ahead and purchase T5 fixtures would not be worth the price.
Here is a comparison of the two:
T8 - 85 Color Rendering Index, 92 Lumens Per Watt, 0.76 Coefficient of Utilization.
T5 - 85 Color Rendering Index, 103 Lumens Per Watt, 0.90 Coefficient of Utilization.
