News from Evangelist Mike Gendron
March  2012

As you can see from the news items this month, members of the Body of Christ must cry out for discernment to protect them from every wind of doctrine that is blowing across our world (Psalm 119:66). The Lord's adversary knows his days are numbered and has turned up the heat in his effort to gather the religions of the world into one herd of goats. As the master deceiver, he continues to use people who exalt the name of Jesus to mislead people with a false ecumenical gospel that is void of power to save souls. I pray as Paul prayed "that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ" (Phil. 1:9-10).

Glen Beck Meets With Vatican Cardinals

Fans of the Glenn Beck Program may have noticed that the titular host was missing for a few days. Glenn didn't say where he was going - only revealing that he was going on a "special assignment." We can now reveal that Glenn was in Rome, where he was invited to meet with several high-ranking officials in the Catholic Church at the Vatican. "Today I am a Jew. I'm a Catholic. I'm a Mormon. I'm a protestant," Glenn said in a declaration of religious solidarity. "I am somebody who believes in something, and I stand with others who say 'I may not believe the same thing that you believe but I want the right to believe and practice and worship the way I believe.'" Read more.
Why Is Rick Warren Seeking Unity with Muslims?
Warren

Rick Warren, one of America's most influential religious leaders, has embarked on an effort to heal divisions between evangelicals and Muslims. He is partnering with Southern California mosques and proposing that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. "I don't know if you have noticed this, but God likes variety," Warren told an audience of 8,000 Muslims at a Washington, D.C. convention in 2009. The unity effort, informally dubbed King's Way, is an attempt to bridge the deep rift between Muslims and evangelicals. It culminated in December at a dinner at Saddleback attended by 300 Muslims and members of Saddleback's congregation.
Vatican Reports Internal Power Struggle

The Vatican has become embroiled in an embarrassing scandal in which a number of leaked documents have drawn back the curtains on the church's inner workings. The internal church squabbling became public about three weeks ago with the disclosure on television and in newspapers of confidential letters written by a top Vatican official who had denounced alleged corruption and financial mismanagement in Vatican City. The feeling among experts is that the letters were a volley in a battle among officials jousting for power in a papal court whose anointed leader is more concerned with theological questions than with the day-to-day affairs of state. The Vatican has not denied the letters' authenticity, but it has issued numerous statements saying the media have blown the matter out of proportion. One document published in a national newspaper last week cited reports that a Sicilian cardinal had spoken vaguely about a plot to kill Pope Benedict XVI before the end of 2012. The Vatican spokesman, Father Lombardi, called the reports "delirious and incomprehensible.'' Letters from Around the World
Letters
I am 71 years old and was a "cradle catholic" until recently when I read your book, Preparing for Eternity. Boy, was that a revelation! I had been questioning so many Catholic doctrines and traditions since my teen years at a Catholic school. I married a wonderful Catholic man and we raised four sons and sent them to Catholic schools. All through this time, I was always wondering, questioning and ill at ease with our Catholic Church. In 1978 the Catholic charismatic movement was on fire in Louisiana and I became a part of that because I was still seeking a true relationship with Jesus and the Bible. Finally, as a senior citizen. I am out of the RCC. Your book laid it all out for me in such a way that I was sure, that I was really sure, that ONLY God's Word is the answer to my questions. What a freedom that is! Thank you, L. L., Baton Rouge, LA

Thank you for the Greek Word Study Bible. I hope to show it to my Catholic friend soon. My question is about the authority of men to forgive sins. My friend cited John 20:21-23 and James 5:15-16 as proof that men have the ability to forgive sins. I read these passages and I'm not sure how to address them. How are these passages to be interpreted? My heart is burdened for my Catholic friend who continues to read Steven Ray and Scott Hahn, but I know God is greater and can demolish strongholds of false teaching. M.M., Costa Mesa, CA

Dear M.M., Since all sins are committed against God, He is the only one with the authority to forgive sins. His divine authority and power to forgive sins is inherent in His Word and His Gospel (Rom. 1:16; Heb. 4:12). Jesus sent his disciples to call sinners to repentance in His name for the forgiveness of sins (Luke 24:47). This is the Great Commission that has been passed on to all Christians (Mat. 28:18-20). When we proclaim the Gospel to the lost, and they respond with true repentance and faith, we can say to them by the authority of God's Word, that their sins are forgiven by God. By the same authority, if they reject the Gospel, we warn them that their sins "have been retained" (John 20:21).
Why Christians Can Never Unite with Rome
All four TV interviews produced by Brannon Howse with Mike Gendron are now available in the Worldview Weekend Situation Room. The interviews deal with the subject of Roman Catholicism and the need to contend for the faith agains the ecumenical movement. All the programs were first aired on the National Religious Broadcasters station. Mike gives reasons why evangelicals and Catholics can never be united in this clip.
Priests Turn Wafer Into the Physical Body of Christ?
One of the lying signs and wonders that the Father of Lies uses to deceive over 1 billion people is the "miracle" of transubstantiation. The master deceiver has convinced Catholics that the false Christ of the Eucharist is the true Christ who returns every day on altars throughout the world to be worshipped and consumed. The earliest known use of the term "transubstantiation" did not occur until the eleventh century. The Fourth Lateran in 1215 established it as a dogma of the Catholic Church. You can see how popular this idolatry has become here. We offer a Gospel tract entitled Which Jesus Will You Trust? to warn Catholics of this fatal deception and idolatry. God had 3000 Israelites put to death for worshipping a golden calf as the true God who delivered them out of Egypt.
Henri Nouwen's Book Essential for DTS Grads?

The deceased Catholic theologian Henri Nouwen continues to have a great influence among evangelicals. In fact, in a 1994 survey of 3,400 U.S. Protestant church leaders, Nouwen ranked second only to Billy Graham in influence among them. In the latest Kindred Spirit, a publication of Dallas Theological Seminary, members of the faculty were asked what books they considered essential for graduates entering ministry. Professor Michael Lawson's said the one essential book he recommends is Henri Nouwen's, In the Name of Jesus. Among Nouwen's many heretical quotes include the following: "Today I personally believe that while Jesus came to open the door to God's house, all human beings can walk through that door, whether they know about Jesus or not. Today I see it as my call to help every person claim his or her own way to God." It is tragic when evangelicals promote false teachers instead of men who faithfully proclaim the truth of God's Word. As a concerned alumnus of DTS, I sent a message to Dr. Lawson asking if he was aware of Nouwen's heresies.
