Papacy Signs Another Unity Accord
A historical accord was reached between the Papacy, the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and the World Council of Churches (WCC) on June 28th. The document called Christian Witness in a Multi-Religious World gives recommendations for conduct as to how Christians are to evangelize those of other religions. The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue has been working on the accord for several years. This is yet another attempt by the Vatican to reverse the Reformation. The document states that "changing one's religion is a decisive step that must be accompanied by sufficient time for adequate reflection and preparation." When a Catholic presents their "gospel", it is a call to membership into the Catholic Church, where salvation is received through participation in the sacraments. There is usually a year-long process of conversion that culminates in Catholic baptism. The papacy teaches that assurance of salvation is anathema, because justification is a process that does not end until after death and purification in purgatory. When an evangelical presents the Gospel, it is accompanied by a call to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus. Justification is an event, not a process. The Bible presents an urgency in evangelism: Today is the day of salvation! The rallying cry of the Reformation was sola scriptura! Why? Because the reformers recognized Scripture as the supreme authority for faith and morals. The Papacy denies this with an authority of its own. Roman Catholicism rules with the authority of an infallible magisterium along with "Sacred Tradition." In doing so they deny the sufficiency of Scripture.
The joint agreement to evangelize non-Christian religions assumes that the Papacy and liberal churches know and embrace the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. As with the all past ecumenical documents, this one employs the deceptive practice of minimizing or ignoring critical differences in theology such as "Justification", "Conversion," and "the Gospel." Each term has a different meaning to each organization. You can read the unity accord here.

See How The Vatican is Reversing the Reformation
This DVD will make you aware of the great strides the Vatican is making to convince evangelicals that the Reformation was a mistake. It's most effective tool has been the creation of unity accords for the purpose of bringing all separated brethren back home to Rome. Prior to Vatican II in 1965, all Protestants were called "heretics", but now we are called separated brethren who do not have the fullness of salvation. Learn how you can contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints and stand firm on the 5 solas of the Reformation. Order here. |

Feedback on the John Piper/ Rick Warren Interview

Many of you have asked for my thoughts on the Piper-Warren interview. It appeared that the main objective of the interview was to address the criticisms that have been levied against both men. Piper has been criticized for inviting Rick Warren to speak at his conferences while Warren has been criticized for his ecumenical, inclusive gospel. Piper said there was only ONE major problem that he noted in Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Life, yet his incomplete, truncated, perversion of the Gospel on page 58 was not the problem he noted. Warren's "gospel" was followed by his unbiblical method for conversion. He wrote that all you must do is "whisper the prayer that will change your eternity." There was no call for anyone to repent and follow Jesus in faith. There was no mention of the resurrection of Christ or the righteousness, God's righteousness requires for entrance into heaven. Tragically, Rick Warren's book has been responsible for planting countless tares in the church. Many now believe they are Christians because they said a prayer while embracing another gospel. When given the chance to correct his incomplete "gospel", Warren chose not to do so. I would like to know why Piper did not address this most important issue.
Phil Johnson provides a biblical perspective on the interview. You can listen to it here.
Brent Kjos provides an excellent response to the Purpose-Driven Deception on a Global Scale. You can see it here.

Mike Gendron's First Argument for Eternal Security

Mike has sent Tim Staples, the Director of Apologetics and Evangelization at Catholic Answers, his first volley in the debate on The Eternal Security of Believers. The debate will include 5 exchanges of 350 words each from Mike and Tim Staples and will be published by Catholic Answers in This Rock Magazine when it is completed.
Mike Gendron's First Affirmation
God promises eternal life to those who repent and believe the glorious Gospel of Grace. When He gives spiritual life to those who are dead in their sins, He does not place them on probation or give them conditional life. Eternal life is given by grace through faith so that the divine promise can be guaranteed (Rom. 4:16). God's promise is upheld by His holy character, unlimited power and sovereign purpose. Listen to the Lord's promise: "He who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life" (John 5:24). Jesus declared that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). The Good Shepherd protects the sheep who were given to Him by the Father with these words of assurance: "I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand" (John 10:29-30). Eternal life is a free gift of God that is irrevocable (Rom. 6:23; 11:29). Believers can know right here and now that they have eternal life (1 John 5:13). The word that describes a believer's eternal salvation is the same "eternal" that describes the eternal triune God (Rom. 16:26). The word means everlasting, forever and never ending. Not once does it ever mean "temporary" or "conditional". According to God's eternal purpose, every believer has been saved from eternal judgment, eternal destruction and eternal punishment (Eph. 3:11; Heb. 6:2; 2 Thes. 1:9; Mat. 25:46). Believers possess eternal redemption through the eternal Spirit who guarantees an eternal inheritance (Heb. 9:12-15; Eph. 1:14). The eternal Gospel promises every believer eternal life and eternal glory in His eternal kingdom (Rev. 14:6; 1 John 5:13; 1 Pet. 5:10; 2 Pet.1:11). The eternal King calls salvation eternal and He has given believers eternal comfort (Heb. 5:9; Mark 16:20; 2 Thes. 2:16).

A Letter of Rebuke
 Dear Mike,
I believe the private interpretation of Scripture was the catalyst for the Doctrine of Sola Scriptura. No one has the right or the authority to interpret Scripture. Only the Roman Catholic Church has the right to interpret Scripture. The Catholic Church has kept the Bible a hundred feet below the Vatican chained in a dungeon with an old monk named Mathias with the only key! I have no right to go against an institution like the Church. The Catholic Church has been studying, writing about, and reading scripture for over two thousand years! What gives you or me the arrogance to interpret scripture without it being in the framework of the Church? What grounds do I or any individual have? I would rather trust in the Church than in any human being.
Keith, Internet
Keith, Everyone who has access to the Bible will be held responsible and accountable for what it says. There will be no excuse! Every mouth will be stopped. You will not be able to plead ignorance or blame others for deceiving you with a misinterpretation of Scripture. The Lord Jesus declared, "Thy Word is truth!" (John 17:3). Everyone on the side of truth listens to Him, not to counterfeit apostles and popes who steal the Lord's titles. Only the Word of God has the power to set you free from religious deception ((John 8:31-32). I pray you will heed this warning and begin abiding in God's Word. |

Debate on the Date of the Book of Revelation
Dr. Mark Hitchcock and Mr. Hank Hanegraaff engaged in a hotly contested debate on the date the Book of Revelation was written. The debate took place at the annual Pre-Trib Study Group meeting in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Hitchcock presented a strong biblical argument for the AD 95 date while Mr. Hanegraaff's response for the AD 65 date was weak and full of holes. Hanegraaff, who is a preterist, requires an AD 65 date or his view of Revelation is rendered impossible. Watch the debate here. |
