Steak dinner at VFW

 

   The VFW, 25190 W. Main St., will be serving a New York boneless steak dinner on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Donation is $9 per plate.

   Karaoke

 

   Newberry Springs American Legion Post 751 will be hosting Karaoke on Friday at 7 p.m. Come and enjoy good food and entertainment. Contact the Post at 760-257-3173 after 1 p.m. on weekdays for information, or after noon on weekends. Karaoke at the Post supports active duty and veteran's programs.

 

   'Walk around theWorld'

 

   Barstow Walks around the World, an eight-week pedometer walking challenge, is designed to promote a healthier lifestyle while contributing to a worthy cause - the March of Dimes. Open to all Barstow-area residents, the program is designed as an employer wellness program for teams of five or more participants. Individual participation is allowed; however, we recommend joining as a team to qualify for the team challenge. The challenge begins February 13, 2012, and has an entry fee of $25 per person. EBLL tryouts and late registration

 

   East Barstow Little League will be holding late registration and tryouts on Saturday, Feb. 4 or 11 at Lillian Park. Minors (9-10) from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Majors (11-12) from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. For Juniors (13-14) tryouts and registration will be at the Sports Park from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. Information for Seniors will be announced later.

   Bingo

 

   Newberry Springs Senior Center, 33383 Newberry Road, Newberry Springs, will hold bingo the first and second Saturday of each month. Doors open at 5 p.m. with play starting at 6 p.m. Hot dogs will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. The more in attendance, the bigger the jackpots.

 

   Barstow Mall craft fair and 

mini swap meet

 

   Barstow Mall is holding a craft fair and swap meet every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Space is free for nonprofit organizations and all others are $5 for one spot or $10 for two spots. Must have tables for merchandise or rentals available for $1. Raffles and entertainment.

Chili cook-off

 

   A fundraising chili cook-off will be held on Sunday at Mollie's Pub, 1309 E. Main St., starting at 1 p.m. Judging will take place at 3 p.m. for all types of chili. Entry free is $5 and $3 per cup. All proceeds to benefit Barstow Diaper Bank. Donations welcome.

 

   Super Bowl dinner

 

   The VFW 2143 Ladies Auxiliary will be serving a Super Bowl dinner with barbecue ribs and side dishes, all you can eat, for a donation of $8. Kick-off will be 3 p.m. with dinner at 4:30 p.m. at 25190 W. Main St. There will be raffles, 50/50, drink specials.
