Oregon's Sculpture Trail
The photo in the heading of this newsletter is of a sculpture titled "Making Hay". In keeping with the art legacy which began in the late 1890's with the Eagle's Nest Art Group and Lorado Taft, the community has highlighted existing sculptures as well as placed additional pieces throughout the area. The centerpiece of the sculpture trail is the statue of the "Eternal Indian", more commonly referred to as Blackhawk, which was completed by Lorado Taft in 1911. Blackhawk Statue is situated in Lowden State Park and serves as a sentinel for the Rock River Valley and the city of Oregon.
