Looking For The Perfect Christmas Tree?
If you are still planning to go out and locate that perfect Christmas tree, Oregon offers some great alternatives for you to consider.
White Pines Christmas Tree Forest If you want to enjoy an already cut tree, a horse pulled wagon ride and a warm apple cider after making your selection, consider the White Pines Inn Christmas Tree Forest. Located on Pines Road west of Oregon, the entire family can enjoy getting out and choosing that perfect tree. Check out their facebook special on Christmas trees this weekend. Go to www.facebook.com/WhitePInesInnPage and become their friend to get all of the details.
If you are looking for a more traditional "cut your own" experience, the Oregon area has two great options to consider:
Prairie Preservation Society of Ogle County The tradition of choosing and cutting your own perfect Christmas tree has been re-kindled at the former Sinnissippi Tree Farm's cut-it-yourself-location off S. Daysville Rd., Oregon. The site, now Sand Ridge Prairie, is owned by the Prairie Preservation Society of Ogle County (PPSOC), a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers. Sand Ridge Prairie is located south of Hwy. 64 at 2879 South Daysville Rd. Pines will be sold for $30. Fir and Spruce will be available for $40. Visitors may bring their own saws or they will be provided at no charge. No chain saws are allowed for safety reasons. The trees are available on the weekends of Dec. 10-11, and 17-18, from 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m., and on weekdays through Dec. 23 from 2-4 pm. Please pay with either Cash or check. Eagle Bluff @ Sinnissippi Farms Located on Lowden Road just south of its intersection with Daysville Road, the Oregon FFA and Eagle Bluff are offering cut your own Scotch Pines. Trees are available for $35 each. They are open through December 18th, and the hours are 12-4 Monday - Thursday and 8 - 4 Friday - Sunday. Stop out and get that "perfect" tree. And, when you are done, come in to Oregon and see all it has to offer. |
