Celebrate Oregon's Sculpture Trail

June is Artist's Month in Oregon

The Fields Project Arts Festival is sponsoring Sculpture Trail Bus Tours during June to celebrate Oregon's Art Legacy.  The Sculpture Trail began 100 years ago, in 1911, when Lorado Taft dedicated the monumental 48 foot tall "Blackhawk" statue to the people of Oregon.  The Trail now consists of 14 sculptures, 10 of which will be showcased during the Sculpture Trail Bus Tours.

The 2-hour tours, led by docents, will depart from Mix Park every Sunday in June at 1pm.  On June 26th, the day of the Fields Project Arts Festival located at Mix Park, tours will depart every hour beginning at 10:30am.

The cost of the 2-hour tour is $15 per person.  Ticket reservations for the June 5th, 12th and 19th tours must be made in advance and are available by calling 815.734.6075.  Tickets on the day of the Arts Festival may be purchased at the shelter in Mix Park.  For additional information, visit the Fields Project web site .

Sculpture Trail brochures, maps and a slide show are available online.

Camping, Hiking, Boating

and More .....

The good old summertime ..... it's just around the corner.  Escape to Oregon, Illinois and enjoy the natural wonders that surround us.

Join the crowd on Tuesday evenings at Oregon Park West, bring your blanket and sit on the lawn and enjoy listening to a free outdoor concert.

Stop at Lowden State Park to view the statue of Blackhawk up close, then journey down the 200+ steps to the Rock River below.  Walk north on the path along the river and dip your feet in the cool waters of Ganymede Spring.

Sign up for a cruise on the Pride of Oregon Paddlewheel Boat.  More information on tickets is available at Maxson Riverside Restaurant.

Like to camp?  White Pines State Park offers camping, hiking, trout fishing in Pine Creek and great food at their main lodge.

If roughing it isn't your thing, spend the night at the Patchwork Inn and sleep in the same room that Abraham Lincoln slept in.  Of course, accomodations are much more comfortable today than when our former President visited!

Fish and boat on the Rock River, go hiking at Lowden-Miller State Forest, climb up the steps at Castle Rock State Park and view the Rock River Valley the way the Indians saw it ......... opportunities to explore and enjoy

the area are endless.

Stop out and visit Oregon.  We look forward to meeting and getting to know you!
